Bush family follies: Bombshell book rips clan for sex, drugs

Laura Bush was a college co-ed who dealt the dope and smoked it. Her hubby, George W., hired some meatheads to threaten a former flame hoping to sell her sordid story. And the elder Bush, when vice president, hired an uneducated woman he shared the sheets with to be his assistant.

There are more hot allegations revealed in celeb biographer Kitty Kelley'sbook about the Bush clan, ``The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty'', released today.

The controversial best-selling author contends that first lady Laura Bush may have a sweet, sugary demeanor now, but she did a lot more than study in college. She was known as the ``go-to girl'' for dime bags of marijuana, Kelley writes.

``She not only smoked dope,'' public relations executive Robert Nash told Kelley. ``But she sold dope.''

CNN wouldn't even quote this book because they said "sources are questionable". So most of this is probably just made up bullshit. And besides, Kitty has been known for making up propaganda to put herself in the spotlight prior to this.

Actually, Kelley has been slinging shit for years against huge public figures yet she's never been successfully sued. If she was making it up, don't you think that she'd have been taken down for slander, etc. by now?

Also, there's another thread about this book from yesterday.

Read this. Proving defamation is far, far from easy. She'd have about a dozen good solid defenses that she could try before she gets even close to being found guilty.

Um, it's rare for a public figure (especially one that's elected) to actually be successful in a suit regarding libel anyhow, so I'm sure none of them would really want to bother.

Public figures have a "harder road to toll" than the average person since they must prove that the party defaming them knew the statements were false, made them with actual malice, or was negligent in saying or writing them. Proving these elements makes the chance of a successful lawsuit slim.

And besides, by reacting to this in a negative way it would only draw more attention to the public figures and keep these controversies brewing longer than they need to. Something I'm sure some of them would all together rather avoid. So letting a book like this simply blow over would probably be the best option.

Someone in NBC booking forced Kelly on the Today Show with Lauer and Matthews. Both of them have been hostile to her(Matthews a lot more polite but harder in questioning) and pretty much showed her to be way off.

I don't know how anyone can take this shit seriously in any fashion. I mean I don't think Bush and his cronies are good people ... or people, but common. This kind of crap has been going on in tabloids for years without many law suits successfuly done. As said by others, it's not easy to sue for slander.

thats probably cause Clinton came out and admitted it even before his presedency instead of trying to cover up everything , so it wasn't a big deal. Bush should just come and and say "Yeah i did coke, and so the fuck what!?!?". In fact, if he did that, i WOULD vote for him. Seriously.

Um, are you suggesting that Kitty Kelley's talking about Babs Bush using witchcraft, Laura dealing weed and W having a secret gay affair with a former classmate turned ambassador is not entertaining?

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Kelley's stuff was real, but either way, it's damn entertaining.
