Construct the flying aircraft carrier with 2 runways, microscale Quinjets, fighter jets and ground support vehicles. $.10 a piece is the magic number to hit. Sadly, most licensed sets don't hit that but are close. I am thinking there are a lot of large pieces in this, and printed ones that are driving up the cost a bit.

the price is reasonable for what you are getting... the 10 cent per piece average is hard to hit for sets that contain several very big pieces as this one does. plus lots of exclusive printing and the like.

It's within the realm of other high-end sets, perhaps a bit on the high per-piece price range. There are cheaper sets with more pieces. This one must have a lot of bespoke bricks.

I remember asking for the ultra big ass star wars lego ships for christmas when I was a kid. And the ultra big ass regular lego ships too.

At the time I didn't know they were so expensive. I was lucky and didn't even know.

On topic, I don't care that much what it is, I just enjoy lego stuff that is long to build. But now I'm a grown up and this is too expensive for me.
Maybe I should have a kid and gift it to him.

This is not a good set for kids. It's hideously expensive, difficult to build, probably quite delicate, and not something you can swoosh around. The Ultimate Collector's Series line is intended for adult fans.

They're releasing another Quinjet later this year, so you're in luck.
