Lenovo Legion Go 2 to have native landscape OLED Screen, 144hz VRR

A panel that is more decorative than anything. It is too weak too run anything even ps4gen to make use of near those refresh rates and the high resolution becomes a further noose around the weak hardwares neck. A OLED panel at 1080pmax with a 60fps refresh rate would deliver the same image quality, actually better match the specs of the machine, give better battery life and save massively on cost.
Not really. I have a go 1. For web browsing the 2560x1600 is fantastic. Incredibly crisp and high ppi. For demanding games you just run 1280x800 and integer scale. It still looks clean and sharp, not too different looking than the steamdeck does at native really… I have both.

yeah its nice, but what god is an old when the frame rates tank. We need a system that will allow 1080p/60 handheld in all modern games for it to be viable for my use.

with how modern AAA games are made, that's never gonna happen.
once the hardware would be there, they'll find new ways to make games run significantly worse with barely a visual jump, forcing handhelds to reduce resolutions to get playable framerates 🙃

look at all the dogshit UE5 games we got again recently... MGS Delta, Cronos... last gen resolutions just so they can skip baking the fucking GI in their static ass environments...

Like any of it depends on the games you play. I played hollow Knight Silksong at 800fps, I'm sure this handheld can handle 100+fps just fine.

You're not gonna get that considering the 5050 and 5060 can't achieve that in every game. A 5050 is vastly more powerful than a Z2E. Imo all you need is decent performance and good upscaling. If the Z2E was an Nvidia chip the conversation would be way different since Nvidia has DLSS CNN, TF.

LOL @ $1350 - $1500, good luck with that. People pay out the ass for laptops cause they use them for work and everything else. People use these "Gameboy PC's" to play indie games on the toilet or laying in bed. Literally no one uses them as laptop/desktop replacements, console replacements, or even phones/tablet replacements, they're supplementary tertiary devices for supplementary secondary devices.

The Legion Go 2 starts at $1,099.99 with an AMD Z2, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. You'll spend $1,199.99 for the model with 32GB of RAM, $1,349.99 for a Z2 Extreme with 32GB / 1TB, and $1,479.99 for the same with 2TB.

All of a sudden it's abundantly clear that they overengineered themselves into a niche and that this is going to fail.

People say the Steam Deck has a small market, and that's the mass market king of PC handhelds. This thing is DOA at those prices. I'll be surprised if we see more than 20 owners on GAF.

Well, that's DOA at those prices. Lenovo is out of their god damn minds.

Edit: MSI Claw devices and Ally 2 are a bargain now! 😂

$1500 for the top end one?? Jesus H Christ. I was looking to replace my gen1 GO but at this prices, I may as well just go for a 4080 powered laptop or something like that. The one I would probably have gone for is the $1349 one based on specs, but that's just too impractical a price for its intended use.

That's fucking nuts. Maybe Microsoft really is playing a part in keeping the price of the Xbox Ally X down a bit. I saw Tom's video this morning (I'll link it below. He's probably my favorite tech YouTuber) and had to rewind to make sure I heard the price correctly.

IMHO, that is their huge advantage over the Switch 2, which might affect Nintendo sooner or later.
L O L no.
None of these handhelds are really going to do anything to even put a dent into Nintendo. Nintendo sold more in 1 day then PC gaming handhelds ever have without any games.

Say what you will about the Switch 2 but it's probably gonna go on to be top 5 selling consoles of all time.

I saw a video today that makes a good point, Lenovo is taking the wrong lessons from this emerging market. You don't want to engineer a device that pushes your product into the territory of people saying 'well at that point, I may as well get a laptop'. I was very gung-ho on it when I saw the specs, but there's just no way I'm paying that much for one of these handhelds. You can get the Xbox ALLY X and the Switch 2 for less than the top end model. This is not the way, Lenovo.

Well fudge, that price :messenger_dizzy:! This was the handheld I was most looking forward to, to replace my SD OLED whilst also being able to work a bit on Windows.
I just recently got a Zenbook S16 for work, so I might as well just stick to the SD and share it with my son for now. Maybe if they discount it heavily down the line I'll buy one... :pie_thinking:

1500 for the top end is just absolutely ludicrous! It's got decent specs but at 1000 it should come with 24-42gb ram and 1tb standard. I was interested but at that cost they out their damn minds.

Everyone about the laptop comments are right. This price range this makes little sense. The performance doesn't warrant the price. This isn't going to take over as a sole gaming device for most. It's really big and most even lower end gaming laptops far exceed this in performance. With that being said, I'm glad it exists as it will at least raise the bar for features.

Yep, I mean at that price range you could go for the AI 385+ / 395+ devices.

Or just say heck with it and get a 14" - 15" laptop with a 5060 or 5070.

Interestingly - this is now priced on par with all the smaller player pricing (Aya Neo etc.) using the Strix Point/890 chipset.
Except I was able to buy one of those 6 months ago - I guess price gouging in electronics is only gonna get worse...

Wouldn't suprise me if MS officially unveils the price early next week now that Lenovo has taken the brute force of the sticker price. If they land on $899 it would seem like a good deal compared to this one.

if they're serious about it they'll go even further and subsidise it, hoping it will drive Xbox PC game sales, and push it down even further... but I doubt they have that much confidence in it tbh.

That would be ideal. But it's not happening. Would love to be wrong as it looks like an ergonomic dream and I wouldn't mind picking it up at the right price.

The prices will come down regardless, it's the nature of OEM built PC devices, every refresh 12-18 months leads to older inventory cleared out.

Just wait it out. I would've preferred they use the Z2 chip in the white Xbox Ally instead of Z2A. But that device at $349-399 after sales still makes for a damn good streaming handheld with little bit of native stuff.
