Anyone else looking to move during this pandemic and crazy housing market? It's definitely a seller's market out there. I'm currently in the process of looking for a house or townhome to rent and it's just as tough to find a place for renting as if you were trying to buy a home. Prices across the board for buying are up as well (plus materials like lumber have seen price increases as well).

Yesterday I spent the day going around touring apartments just as a backup option, and inventory (at least for top floor apartments) seems to be low here as well. Several places told me they didn't have 1 bedrooms on the top floor coming available any time soon. I'll soon be on a month-to-month with my current apartment but I plan to continue looking, as I've never liked my current old-ish apartment. There's a townhome that looks promising that I'm hoping to tour this week, so I'm hoping that pans out.

Just curious if anyone else is trying to move (buy or rent) in this market, and what your experience has been like.

Rent and housing have skyrocketed in Florida, I'm already sweating when my current lease is up and I've still got a year and a half.
I'll probably look into condos. I prefer to rent, I hate having to deal with maintenance and such. But a 3/2 apartment is going for $1800+ and I can get a condo mortgage for around $1200 sooo....

Dunno why anyone would still want to live in a big city these days. I'm looking to move from my apartment to a house without neighbours.

Hmm, I have to give 60 days advance notice before moving out of my current apartment, but then most places don't want to wait 60 days for you to move in. Do I just give my 60 day notice now and work hard on finding a new place over the next 2 months, or wait until I find a place and then just pay rent for both places until the apartment lease ends? Not sure what to do in this market (just looking to rent a place, not buy)

Bought my house in Oct 2018. Value has gone up about 40% already. I'm pretty happy. Refinanced as well to get in on the disturbingly low interests rates. Don't think I could ever go back to renting again.

I sold my loft last year and moved to the countryside on a lake. I got two handwritten letters asking if I could sell the house for 200k$ more. lol no.

Renting out two houses that are worth much more than what I paid for them, stacking up some cash to buy another house when I return to the states in about 18 months. Hoping the market shifts back a bit to a pre-covid state by then.

Been saving for a mortgage for a while now, and 5% mortgages are available here in the UK right now.

Been hoping to start looking with a 10k deposit, but I'm in line for an engineer position at my place of work soon, which could raise my chances of a good mortgage deal.
