You said there’s an “epidemic” of black rapists

I’m still waiting for you to back this up.

An “epidemic” of black rapists is pretty serious stuff

Google is you friend, but since you are too lazy to check or perhaps you believe that facts and statistics are part of the evil white patriarchy, here is a link;

This guy contextualizes the stats, but they are there for everybody to see.

Complete off-topic, inappropriate nonsense coming:

Everytime I see Neeson’s name I get reminded of this podcast I heard years ago where a small time actor/comedian claims to have seen Neeson nude on set, or maybe just heard through the grapevine, that Neeson has an “impossibly large piece.” He went on to add “its insultingly huge, like you see it and say ‘that’s just uncalled for’ man.”

It was an old episode of Fighter and the Kid.

I don’t don’t know but the way he said it made me laugh.

If you're a coward, it's the worst time. If you're not a coward, it's the best time.

This might not have been the best career motion, but I respect it, nonetheless.

I'm black, btw.
But I'm sure we've all felt an intense sense of hatred in response to something someone has done or said at some point in our lives (I know I have). But I don't feel compelled to 'fess up, because I know it was a temporary reaction to an event. I don't think that makes me a coward. It just makes me human.
The art of living is in large part that of knowing when and when not to speak your mind. When you reveal everything about yourself, life becomes hellish and unbearable -- as Mr Neeson will be finding out.

It's strange how people increasingly feel as if they need to reveal everything these days. I suppose it's reflective of the changing attitude towards privacy.

For some people it’s therapeutic. Get it off your chest, out of your head. Talking to strangers can be helpful.

I’m a loser who lays in bed all day clicking refresh to see if I get any likes on here; so I kinda know how that feels

I'm going to say it again.
This isn't racism.
He didn't want to kill a black men because he though black people were inferior due to their skin color.
He wanted to kill a black men because he associated them with a traumatic experience, that's not racism, that's an irrational emotional response.

Yeah, people are going to trust FBI statistics on racial matters. The same FBI that initiated COINTELPRO, tried to defame Dr. King Jr., and identifies BLM as "Black Identity Extremists".

Also, you should try actually reading the shit you provide, since it actually debunks the data that's supposed to support your narrative. Even a cursory reading of the article does this.

I mean, grouping a whole group of people together in a negative way just based on their race is kinda racist.

BLM are extremists. I read the article, it was a poor attempt to rationalize the hard stats. Don't be angry, be better.

Yeah, I can understand the therapeutic element if you're privately confessing something to a third party. But to turn to the media especially in this day and age where identity has become an obsession is beyond stupid in my view. He has already been branded a racist and scum among other things. I just wonder what he expected to get from going public with this stuff. The Twitter mob were never going to go easy on a white man saying he was looking to kill a black person.

It isn't just based on their race. Notice he didn't want to kill black people, he wanted to kill a black man because that's who he associeted with the trauma.

You should be banned permanently for making highly calorific claims without proper citation in political topics. You don't let people poison the well of discussion like this. This shouldn't be difficult.

Some charters of BLM might hold what some would consider extreme views, but they're far from some cohesive Terrorist Organization, which is what the label is meant to color them as. It's a disingenuous optics game.

So when biased sampling and extrapolations from tiny data sets are pointed out, you don't explain why that's not true to actually buttress the data and support your claims; you just continue to dismiss the criticism entirely and peddle your narrative anyway. Got it.

That’s not the way this works.

You do not get To malign an entire group of people as an ‘epidemic of rapists’ then return with ‘go google,’ ‘check a statis’ or a wordpress blog; and you do not get to call a user lazy for asking you to substantiate your allegation.

Please either rescind or backup your statement, as requested with an analysis of why the sources you have provided support your claim, or leave the thread.

Cheers.

He wanted to kill, not beat them up.

Yeah it's pretty fucked up and most definitely a racist way of thinking.

I don't think this automatically makes Neeson a piece of shit and life time racist though, especially since he volunteered this information up and is showing remorse.

For the less forgiving among us, the mere fact that he had these thoughts even once in his lifetime 'proves' that he is actually a terrible human being.

I fully acknowledge and accept the topic title was completely wrong.

While this revelation is very disturbing, I am glad that Liam Neeson was able to see that his thinking was wrong before anything happened from which there is no coming back. However I must admit it has changed my personal opinion of him substantially.

The fact that these individuals exists is genuinely sad. I pity them.

If someone brandmarks a man for life that has come forward by his free will and confessed to his sins, I would seriously question if they are even capable of rational thought.

It will be interesting to see how his fellow Hollywood comrades will react to this. It will expose the true drones among them.

Why would you even go public with something like this? Forgiveness and understanding are culturally dead for the foreseeable future.

Ill-advised, to say the least.

I wasn't referring to the thread title I was referring to TheWatcher, though?

I just don't see why it should substantially affect how you think about him in a negative light. I've held substantially racist views against white people and internally reflected those notions in violent ways as well. Anger blinds people. But I realized through time, education, more life experience dealing with diversified groups of people, and further self-reflection, that those emotions weren't productive towards anything at all, so I eventually grew passed those demons.

I think most, if not all people, have these kinds of internal socio-philosophical battles that they rage war with on a daily basis and they often manifest themselves in coproreality in various ways. Some less dangerous to society than others. Ultimately, the dude didn't hurt anybody and he claims he's not the same person, today. Don't know why that's so easily dismissed as banal or trivial, but to me that's what matters. In a society this racially and socio-economically divided I think it's impossible for anyone that's not socially stunted by complete isolation to not go through these kinds of growing pains. Some people just aren't willing to admit it out loud. Especially in a completely unrelated moment dedicated to promoting a multimillion dollar corporate product.

The ones that won't even admit this to themselves never grow at all.

I think it's fair to not completely trust him based on this new information but I don't think you should completely trust anyone.

Jesus... I dont think this is something he really needed to say cause I can see how it can be used against him but.. I have to give him credit for coming out and admitting he is human. We all make mistakes and I can understand how angry he would feel if that person who hurt someone you care about is still out there. I wont try to defend the racist part of it but when you are so full of rage or anger your mind goes to some pretty scary places.

I read regret in his statements. Won't be enough for some people and that's okay. I doubt they'll want to take the streets and murder the Irish over it.

I feel it would have been the same situation no matter the skin colour. Just because the rapist was black wouldn’t change the outcome of his actions.

It'll be interesting to see if the media and other celebs acknowledge this as a learning moment or try to feed him to the dogs. Either way, he's probably wishing he'd directed something with a talking raccoon in it right about now.

“Trigger warning quoted interview from the text is highly racist and offensive.”

lol shut up

Bad wording aside the point stands.

The fact he asked fir the race of the atracker is interesting, that and the fact he wanted to kill any black person he came across not just the attacker is an indicator of pre-existing prejudices,
Not to sound racist myself, but that's a pretty fair question, cosnidering most of us live in a place where a bunch of races are mixed up in a small area. I'm sure he would've felt the same way regardless of the outcome of that answer.

Honestly I think it’s gonna be fine.

A few weeks ago there was a “Chrissy Teigen is over thread” about some phobic tweets of hers, proclaiming her doom. Nothing happened. NothingBurger.

I don’t think this will rock Hollywood.

It was a poorly worded, too honest, interview answer that can easily be explained away by any PR professional

In some alternate timeline an impoverished Liam Neeson auditioned as a male pornstar, and his resume said:

I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career with an impossibly large piece.

Usually I’m scared when you reply to me. Phew I didn’t get murdered this time! 😇

lol sorry if I make you feel that way. It's not intentional. I just talk bluntly sometimes.

I know he wasn't the one speaking in your quote, but I just heard him say it in his voice. The rest just sort of followed.

But he didn’t specifically ask for the race. It likely just came up in the description of what the guy looked like. Re-read what he actually said.

At first I thought it was racist but if any horrific attack happens to a family member your going to see everyone as the attacker if you don't know who it is but if you know the race you narrow the field of hatred to race instead of everyone.

Am I reading this wrong? Is it just an assumption?

“She handled the situation of the rape in the most extraordinary way,” Neeson said during the interview, which can be read in full here. “But my immediate reaction was ... did she know who it was? No. What colour were they? She said it was a black person.
“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody. I’m ashamed to say that, and I did it for maybe a week – hoping some [Neeson gestures air quotes with his fingers] ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could kill him.”

I think he was in an emotional moment and asking about attributes that would help him more easily identify the person. Notice that race wasn't his first port of call -- he initially asked if she knew who it was. Regardless, the whole point of what he was saying was pointing out how wrong it was, yet the Internet Outrage Machine^TM will inevitably want to use this as justification to unperson him for wrongthink.
