Liam Robertson on what happened with MvC:I

Basically what everyone expected:

- Shoestring budget. Like half of the budget for SFV's DLC plans.
- Re-use of old assets. That concerns mostly the Capcom side.
- Management didn't care until making fun of Chun Li became a meme. That's why that got changed.
- The first round if DLC characters has been finished months ago. They were just cut from the game.

So what you're saying is if we want them to make changes we should make memes and also not buy the game

My gosh...

Wait... What about Ken's banana hair?

EDIT: No, nevermind, we have Hot Ryu!

So the shit MVCI is getting is fully deserved then.

And there are still people defending the shit Capcom is pulling.

Who is Liam robertson, for those of us that don't know him.

He's an investigative game journalist that works on Unseen64. He mostly works on finding information about unreleased games like that Pilotwings Wii thread not too long ago but, sometimes he gets in touch with developers on games with troubled development like this and Mass Effect: Andromeda

Capcom really seem like they're in a vicious circle where they can't afford to budget what they need to to ensure success, so they cut corners with the end result they then sell below expectations, leaving them even less money to fund a maybe successful future project (which they then in turn have to cut corners on, and the cycle repeats)

Have Gaffers been enjoying the game? Could sort of sense from the reveal trailer what this was going to be and sort of stayed away from all discussion relating to it.

The only real news in this video is the shoestring budget the game was on and while I think even that was easy to infer, I didn't expect it to be quite so severe.

Sigma was announced as DLC day 1!

No wonder this guy's banned.

The video specifically calls out Monster Hunter and Black Panther, not Sigma.

e: I know Liam's sources are sometimes inaccurate, and I personally think he's a smug asshole, but this seems legit to me.

They're defending it because...

FGC has jobs tied to Capcom fighting games and.... and.... even I gotta admit... Infinite DOES look fun to play IF you know what you're doing.

O ooh boy.

Going to be saving this for posterity.

This is a gold mine.

Super glad that I only got a Hype Chub when MvC:I was announced. With the crappy models, questionable budgeting, DBZF stealing all the blood flow, and now knowing Capcom sent it out to die like this, I won't be touching this game anytime soon.

This is Just sad, but is hard to disprove - that means that they are already working on the actual next DLC set of characters - the ones releasing soon are just on hold I guess.

The FGC will never fully hold Capcom's feet to the fire because of the amount of money they contribute to tournament pots, yes.

Disgusting if true. Glad this shit bombed. Fuck Capcom.

From what I've seen in the OT thread, people seem to like the gameplay a lot. Most of the complaints are just about aesthetics.

They took the Budget from MvC to finance DLC for a game that completely underperformed? Which sane persons thinks that this would be a good idea

So Capcom confirmed for not taking shit seriously.

I think it's time to stop supporting them.

Yeah, this is normal. You finish this stuff up, it goes on the shelf on hold for a release date. Such is life in a GAAS environment.

The game is already dead.

Not at all. There's tons of options Capcom has, but it's up to them whether or not they push forward with anything.

One thing for certain - If they want to make this a service platform they should definitely offer a f2p option with rotating characters and offer us plenty of costume options.
