Life is Strange | Spoiler Thread

This game is simply phenomenal. The existential questions it asks via choice or just plain dialogue(there was a great exchange near the end in Episode 5 between Chloe and Max) are in a strange way cathartic. Do you stop and save Alyssa every game or is she just a lispy nobody always in need of a helping hand when she needs to learn how to save herself? Do you rewind time, or go back on your initial decision when things didn't go according to plan or do you accept things the way they are knowing bad shit is bound to happen regardless of the choices you make? Do you save the world of your lover and best friend so you can hold her hand and drive off into the distance or do you save the town and all its inhabitants never having been reunited with your true love? It's clear to see how any philosophical person will be enamored with Life Is Strange. It hits all the right notes throughout the series. This is my favorite game.

The people giving Warren love clearly didn't see his locker in the nightmare to tell you what you needed to know about him

the locker obviously doesn't represent the real Warren, just like the "nightmare versions" of principal wells, the janitor and max, don't represent the real people, but rather Max's fears

I definitely kissed both in episode 5. I also had kissed Chloe during the dare earlier in the game. Not sure what else leads to it, though.

someone said you need to side with Chloe throughout the game. I guess you need to agree with her about everything to get it.

Does anyone else agree the save Chloe ending seems to have been shoehorned in? not only it is shorter, but nothing happens in it, we don't see anyone definably dead not what happens afterwards.

I feel like they added it in, because so many people had predicted the "let Chloe die to save AB" ending since day one, they wanted to give people and option to say no

This isn't true, because I made several decisions against Chloe throughout the game and I still got the kiss.

almost didn't recognize you without your DR avy. hi, we have similar taste in games :p

yup, felt like it was made just so they don't have one true ending that people predicted. there were so many theories that Chloe had to die to set things right and that's how it came to be. the sacrifice town ending felt like it was made to just give it to those players.

sometimes a nightmare is just a nightmare. and it was a cool level.
It is, but episode already has spent too much time dicking around for my taste.

It was that last blackout that Max had before she made it to the lighthouse. I just took it as demons/doubts in her head mixed with time travel effects.
That's lame.

I was hoping for a cthulhu-esque cult twist where the prescotts were doing human scarifies to summon an Old One and another gave Max the power to prevent that. I am also mad that the Stella theory is void.
This, however, is not!

Oh I'm part of the 7%, and proud. You guys know what I'm talking about.

I didn't think it was odd how fast Warren believed Max's story, it showed how much he trusts and loves her.

I guess he could have acted a little more shocked though, maybe with a "hoooly shit" or something.

Showed he was a dumb fuck. Warren's a moron. Fuck Warren. And on top of that, he CAN'T love her. How could anyone? He's an obsessive fuckboy.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Nothing wrong with that per se, since the split seems to be pretty even between the two (it was 52% choosing to let Chloe die last night), but the way it's handled makes me really glad I didn't choose it the first time. Would have made that epic 15 hour journey a little more disappointing for me.

So I've been watching some let's plays and it seems I am the only Max so far that Jefferson called a cunt.

He screamed it in the Dark Room but I can quite remember the dialog option I picked or what sequence it was. Anyone remember?

I was also called a cunt, though I can't think of anything in particular I said in previous episodes that might have set it off. I did tell him to eat shit and die in episode 5, but the alternative was "fuck you" so I'm not sure if that made any difference.

(this post is weird as fuck out of context)

When she broke the bottle maybe? Not sure.

I was pretty disappointed with the final episode, to be honest. Felt like it went in too much of a different direction than all of the other episodes and felt a bit different in terms of tone and styling - mainly because of the "nightmare" sequences. It really ruined it for me.

Another gripe? It made absolutely no sense to me why, after Max thinks she fixes everything the first time, gets Jefferson arrested, is in LA then suddenly decides she needs to fly back to ave Chloe from the tornado, why in the following sequence, Jefferson *isn't* arrested? Surely Max's first thought, as it was the first time, should have still been "text David about Jefferson". Why the hell didn't she do that? STUPID MAX.

And then also, she went back to Chloe to avoid her being in the tornado alone but Chloe's a big girl, she could have gone to safety by herself. Instead, Max messes with time a whole lot of times and then they both just end up stood in the tornado together. What a lot of difference that makes, Max.

But then I also think I'm annoyed because it didn't end in a way that satisfied me. I didn't want to choose between Chloe or Arcadia Bay. (I saved Chloe, because, well. I don't know. Max would have been too f'ed up to live with the knowledge that she killed her best friend/true love. Not that destroying her whole town is much better.) I wanted to be able to change things one more way, to make everything okay, like, you know, go back and rip up the contest photo THEN TEXT DAVID ABOUT JEFFERSON. I felt like that in Episode 4, too, when by saving Chloe's dad, you paralysed Chloe. Why couldn't Max have found another photo before Chloe's car crash and stop her getting the car/getting in a crash? Oy.

Fantastic game overall, though. The last episode *was* a bit disappointing, but it hasn't particularly soured the experience at all for me.

For those who are interested, I wrote a review here: http://gamespew.com/2015/10/life-is-strange-episode-5-polarized-review/

Apparently a matter of budget:

Yeah, I'm still not sure what happened here and why Jefferson is still around. I guess it's because she didn't think things through at all, so when she just jumped back from the museum to her room in order to tear her competition picture, that didn't carry on her memories of Jefferson and she still ended up getting time powers and repeating everything. Basically, the penultimate jump made a repeat of the entire events of Life Is Strange, except instead of tearing the picture in the bathroom, she tore it in her dorm room.

Edit: I think being disappointed because there's no good ending where everything ends up being okay is a weird thing. Not every story needs it, and bittersweet is a valid way to go.

Max was a panicked teen. Her thoughts were just "need to undo being in Frisco" so she got rid of the cause. Since she had already figured things out in in the Frisco timeline she forgot she neesed to keep it sorted out.

I got called a cunt as well. I remember something smash beforehand.

Jefferson's creepiness was beyond the threshold I was comfortable with. they did a fantastic job in those scenes. Jefferson VA must've had a lot of fun.

trying to avoid major spoilers. i know the finale just came out.

finished episode 3. after i went back to save chloe's dad it turns out that chloe ends up disabled. not sure where this is going! i hope she's really OK.

Interesting. When Max kicks the trolley and smashes the glass of drugs on the photos he yells "Stupid bitch!". (At least in the let's plays I've been watching). I honestly cannot remember how that diolog happened.

Go to the OT, not into the spolier thread!

yea, you spill the drugs which pissed him off cuz it's not easy to get especially since he killed Nathan.

He called me one too but I don't remember what caused it. I think it was something to do with calling his art inconsequential or something..?

But I loved that he was about to murder me and he was like "I'm sorry it was not cool I called you that".

Disappointed in the sense that the previous four episodes have been so emotive and realistic that you can't help but start to care for the characters, and as a human being with feelings, you want everyone to be ok!

Of course not every story needs a "happy" ending, and some of the best stories don't. LIS is still incredible, even with the ending it has. It wasn't the lack of happy ending that made me overall disappointed with episode 5, moreso the general direction and focus of the episode compared to previous.

Is there anything stopping Kate from having killed herself in the Sacrifice Chloe ending? As far as I know, Jefferson/Nathan still abducted her, she's still being bullied and is having her "porn video" distributed everywhere, with Max not having the knowledge of the future while it's happening.

The things that would change is that I guess her abduction would come to light, and David wouldn't end up bullying her. Maybe that's enough for her to not have gone for that.

Yeah, that part I can see. Definitely not my favorite episode, but I did like the nightmare sequences. I just wish those segments had more meaning and relevance to what was actually happening in the story at the time.

a sad ending was predictable which is why I understand why some people are disappointed with it. sometimes a good ending can be more refreshing.

this is why I needed an epilogue!

I imagine her kidnappers facing public justice for what they did probably put a bit of spring in her step, and people probably backed off the shaming thing when they realized she was a victim of some weird rapey douches.

Was anyone else taken aback by Jefferson calling Max a cunt? I mean, I know 'fuck' and 'shit' were used throughout the other episodes, but cunt took me by surprise.

Not at all. You have a guy who is going to KILL you calling you a bad word. Not really a big deal to me considering what kind of a dude he is.

Yes really loved those scenes. I wrote earlier that they handled Jefferson really well and he was a better villain than I though he'd be. Also someone asked earlier he called me a cunt as well... Nice.

The long segment where Chloe had tied Max up and then proceeded to get jiggy with everyone in front of her did actually make me kinda rethink the character a little bit.

When "bad Max" called Chloe over in the frozen diner I actually wondered if she was the bad guy all along.

Only character it made me rethink was Max. Getting some mad jealousy vibes from that segment.

Hah, me too. It's like fuck and shit are thrown about too much these days to have any real meaning, but "the C-word" still holds that bit of impact. Still, harsh, man. I know you're about to kill me, but jeez, your words really cut deep!
