Life is Strange | Spoiler Thread

Guess we'll just have to settle for not-amazing-but-not-terrible fanart for now

I love how they handwaved it in the game.

Yeah, that was excellent. Like really, how much would it have added if "the totem pole did it" or whatever?

Would be happy with an artwork from Dontnod. It would be a beautiful scene, just like it was when Max hugged her. I was surprised how good Kate was in this game and wished to see more of her, but Dontnod handled her very well. Giving us a chance to talk to her before all that hell that she went through and giving her a hug was a nice touch.

I loved Max in that scene. She just preached, it was great.

Priest Larry David caused her power. It's how it was meant to be.

Knowing the exact origin would diminish the strangeness of the game. How did X happen is a lot less interesting than What Happens because of X
Life is Well Explained and Accurately Described

I chose to let the tornado destroy Arcadia Bay

Thoughts:
1) Max was already overextending her powers. There was no guarantee that she would survive yet another rewind. If she would not survive, Kate would still die (in my scenario), Nathan and Jefferson wouldn't get caught and of course Chloe would also die.

2) If she would survive the rewind, something could still go bad and she wouldn't have way to redo it anymore. This means that she would just have to live with her decision (exactly what she does in the other ending).

3) What if the tornado actually was not caused by her powers

Kate is my favorite, too bad she died in my game. That will teach me to not read the bible.

She was SO close to being over the edge in mine. When Victoria put the url in the bathroom, I left it there. It was one of my "Well, you can't change everything." moments. Boy, am I an asshole.

If you do everything right with Kate though, its my understanding is that you get pressed much less. Making her that much easier to save.

Replaying that scene on another slot was way easier: I did everything but say 'go to the police' (not done that yet) and she was easy to get off the roof. Just had to mention her dad (and some other stuff...).

I liked the words shared with the Principal during the San Fran visit. Though I thought the game would refer more to his closet alcoholism. I mean, I don't mind that it didnt, but in eps. 1 and 2 I really thought it'd get some light shed.

Whoaaa, what?

In my first playthrough of the finale, when the nightmare begins, the table scratching said "Rachel Amber 4ever" as usual. Then after talking with Jefferson, it became "Chloe Price 4ever" written on top of the Rachel version, it was like they were both there.

But in my alternate playthrough, after talking with Jefferson, it said "Max Caulfield 4ever" with no sign of the original Rachel marks. Then when I inspected it it became "Chloe Price 4ever" with no sign of the Max or Rachel versions underneath.

Wonder what causes that to change? Could it just be something simple like what you say to nightmare Jefferson? In the first playthrough I told him I loved him (shits and giggles), but in my alt I said my selfies are shit.

That's one of the pictures for the episode actually. I saw it originally say Max, then it said Rachel and as I took a picture it changed to Chloe.

This episode has a ton of cool details. If you inspect all the pictures in the room they're all different. Like the class photo has cracks for everyone's eyes, the model shoots turned into max, the lighthouse is destroyed, etc. The journal also does a lot through the game, like actually being burnt to a crisp when you loop back and get stuck with Jefferson.

I also chose BAD END. Best BAD END 2015. It's pretty poetic that after having just about everything settled in the art exhibit timeline Max would still decide to risk everything and alter more timelines just to save a single person.

Looks like I'm still in the minority though: 47%/53%

That entire scene creeped me the fuck out. Just being there in the classroom and it's all opposite - like you're Mark's accomplice instead. There's also magazine covers with Max in punk clothing "latest from the dark room" and stuff. I liked how the scene broke the fourth wall too, like Max could see your choices.

I am the proud 6% that did nothing.
I gave him a "good job hug". He can 'bate to it later.

Really curious is if there's game data of Kate with her hair down. I just see all that hair tied up and it looks heavy.

Where/when did that Warren kissing scene happen? Before using his picture to rewind?

I only had choice to hug or leave right away.

Well that was depressing. I chosed to let Chole die as it made the most sense. No matter what you did tragedy was in the cards.

Fuck the destroy Arcadia Bay ending though, it's way too empty. Like literally way to empty.

If you think about it that ending was similar to a game called
The Last of Us
and a tv show called
LOST
. Well not the ending of this show but more like the story between
Desmond and Charlie
.

Yeah right then, if you talked to him the options would be kiss/hug/nothing

Even though I found him to be a creep I still had all 3 options.

Did you let Warren beat up Nathan?
Did you agree to go ape?
Did you help him with the science stuff?

Saving Arcadia Bay is the perfect ending to this game. The other ending is terrible, hell, they shouldn't have given you the choice to do it. Broke my heart when I saw jacksepticeye picking that ending just to be really disappointed by it, that ending should not have been there at all.

I thought the ending was incredibly disappointing (I chose to save Arcadia Bay). From the moment they introduced the whole 'travel through photos' thing, everyone knew the devs would end up using it for the finale. As soon as the game started to introduce alternate timelines it was obvious that the choices you've made would be rendered pointless. I was hoping that it would be a Chapter 4 exclusive thing but obviously this was not the case. Near the end of the game where you've got the choice the save people, why would you bother wasting your time? You know that (as far as the story goes) this timeline isn't the one you care about, so why bother caring about saving anyone there?

I understand the whole idea of "it's about the journey, not the destination" but I feel like the ending could have been done a little better than that.

Now watch the other ending on youtube.

Did anyone else notice how they kept saying

"Life is..." then did NOT say the game title! They always went with some other word like weird or crazy! I thought that was kinda funny!

I think the impact you have on characters can be meaningful and important even with the knowledge that you're in an alternate timeline and that you'll be returning to a different one eventually, but I agree that it wasn't great in episode 5 because the alternate timelines were so short-lived.

It worked in episode 4 because there was a build up to it and you were there for a long time, giving the player time to take in all of the differences compared to the original one and, in a way, becoming somewhat attached to the timeline itself. That wasn't happening with all of the jumps in episode 5.

I'm kind of surprised Max never used her ultimate power to stop time after the Kate incident. No situation was introduced again that would make use of that.
