"Like a one man human centipede"

Maybe the 1.5 update fucked up the Safe/recovery mode somehow? Ive never heard of of PS3 not being able to go into recovery mode, no matter how fucked it is.

this could also suggest this isnt a simple HDMI problem, the actual motherboard is fucked, possibly by heat.

Edit: Or it could be related to PSN going down and the play go system. Maybe he should take out the hard drive and swap in a new one.

From a completely powered off state (#4), there are no beeps.
 
When he started wobbling the console, that was perhaps the most depressing part of the stream.

I can't think of an internet-connected device that doesn't have that mentioned somewhere. More than anything, it's probably for legal reasons.
 
Why are people hung up on the guy counting to 10 instead of 7? Safe mode is achieved by holding the power button for AT LEAST 7 seconds. It's not like you have to get it to 7 and let go, so 10 seconds is a better way to ensure you're not counting to 7 too quickly.

- He was downloading DCUO and it became unresponsive so he unplugged the PS4. He couldn't get a picture anymore after turning it back on.

- Tried troubleshooting it himself by holding the button down for 7 seconds to safe mode (he tried this various times though he messes up a lot while holding it down. He even counted to 10 once)

- People trolled him and he even tried using an external HDD (I'm not sure if PS4 even uses external).

- He called customer support ON STREAM and told them his ADDRESS, barcode, and full name. Just in case you missed it, he gave out his ADDRESS, full name, and barcode for the system.

- Sony's sending him a box to send it back now.

- Currently, he's just getting trolled by the comment section. Also by his friends.

- Now he's just troubleshooting it himself again, while making a few comments about support and the PS4 being bad.

Baby steps... My amazon launch edition has yet to ship, once I get over that hurdle I will start contemplating the rage associated with getting a day uno brick.

So can someone just summarize please, how many actually confirmed bricked PS4's are there?
I know of 2 myself.

The OP's and another, although the origin of that other one is slipping my mind.
 
This kind of sounds like a software problem, not hardware. If Sony realizes it is relatively widespread, they should be honest and let users know to hold off on downloading the day one patch (if that is indeed the cause), as bad as it would be for PR. Much better to wait an extra day or two for Sony to fix it rather than risking weeks more of waiting for your PS4 to come back from Sony.

FALSE. He was downloading the update AND THE SYSTEM BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND WOULDN'T SHUT DOWN.

This is why he unplugged it. He had no choice.

He even said his friend unplugged the PS4 while downloading the DCUO update.
 
I'm wondering how many people actually have the console now. There's what, 4 people with this problem? It sounds like the 1.5 update may be the cause of this.

I agree, based on the symptoms, this sounds like software. I really hope they can isolate what's causing it, so they can get us a 1.51 as quickly as possible, even if it means taking down 1.5 for a few days after launch.

I don't think it's the cause. This guy was updating DCOU when it happened.

Other people are streaming with the update just fine aren't they?

Aw hell, who knows. I'm going to hold off just in case. I don't need blu-ray or anything like that.
