This would be similar to how you reset an iPhone. You hold it down through the first powerdown cycle and keep holding it down, until you get the "double-boot" thing.

Try unplugging the TV while the TV is on. Some times (with the PS3) TV's have an issue with HDMI hand off and wont display. Unplugging the TV while it is on fixes it.
