Like Previous Games, Monster Hunter Wilds locks character editing behind microtransactions

The Monster Hutner Wilds – Character Edit Voucher: Three-Voucher Pack is available now on digital storefronts for around $6. This gives players the option to change the physical appearance of characters, essentially re-doing the character creation process.

These options, along with the other microtransaction offerings made available for Monster Hunter Wilds were not available to test during the review period. However, they were mentioned on social media last week.

The same is true for players’ companions, the Palico. You can purchase three vouchers to edit your Palico for around $6 or a voucher that will allow you to edit both your character and your Palico three times for around $10.

They've always done this. Going to be endless emote packs as well and other DLC.

You guys should see what they did to Street Fighter 6 sometime.

Without proper context this falls anywhere from true to completely dishonest.

We need to know how many can be gotten in game just by playing.

If this is anything like RE, most of what can be bought can be earned, which makes the paid version nothing more than a paid shortcut.

Capcom went the deep end with the DLC scam maybe since DMC V if not earlier.

Fuck 'em, they don't deserve the success.

As a Gamer™, I know I'm obligated to care about this, but I do not.

Stupid? Sure. So is worrying about how your character looks.

This is specifically to edit a pre-existing character.

Most games youre usually stuck with what you do until you start a new game, soooo this not really a big deal to me.

Hey I've checked and at least on PC you get one of those for free both for you and your cat.

There's also 18 paids DLCs. :goog_relieved:

as most had mentioned, this is stupid and greedy. but, it IS just the norm now in the industry and this is far from the most distasteful monetization there is. at least you get to see how your hunter actually looks in action real quick and can go back to making a new one right away if you're not happy with it. and better yet, most of the time you'll be covered with plenty of armor if you want to so how the character looks doesn't really affect the gameplay at all. yes I would rather there is no monetization outside of paying for the game itself. but as things are right now, I'm more than happy with any devs who only sell cosmetics that doesn't matter to gameplay.

Let’s be fair Atlus does this too and most if the time their DLC practice is much worse than Capcom.

Unfortunately I’m too much of Atlus fanboy.
Yeah lol, same here.

I don't mind looking away when they charge me extra for 2 demons (Dagda and Cutehana) because the games are just so much fun to me. :goog_relieved:
But they are also of great quality, which is something I can't say about the latest Capcom games.

Anyway fren, hope you have a lot of fun with the game! I might jump in once the big expansion drops.

Their G rank expansion are high quality and all title updates for monsters are free.

Some of the best demons in SMT are locked behind payed DLC.

I’m not saying Capcom’s DLC isn’t crappy it is but I also can easily ignore it since it’s not part of the actual hunt.

Some practices by fan favorites like Capcom or Atlus are absolutely disgusting. Even worse when people who rant non-stop about gachas and the likes then swallow religiously this bullshit with a smile on their face. Double standards at its finest.

So what you're saying is they have a feature to change your appearance in this 70 dollar game but it's okay that they paywall this because "most other games" don't let you edit your character either?

Scummy company doing scummy shit. They are constantly doing this type of exploitation. Selling cheats and basic gaming options is rotten.

Wait, some people are defending this in here? Fuck me, have some self respect.

Capcom should really reassess their monetization. It's been like this for a long while unfortunately. It just reeks of, "Well, some people will pay for it, so why not ask?"

I’m saying they can charge as much as they want for it because i wont be using it and theyre not getting a single penny from me for their MTX’s.
