Other August release is going to be Shadow Complex for PS4. Mark my words

Exhibit A) Sticker for the other Aug release

Exhibit B) Metroidvania

Exhibit C) Pretty sure they teased something "remastered for PS4", but I can't find it anymore

Yep, it seems like it's going to be shadow complex

almost too easy

Also they posted this last week on their Instagram and the logo totally matches Shadow Complex. Looks like a definite! Sweet!

I love my Metroidvania games, will certainly get Shadow Complex.

Will be getting both games in August. I may even purchase a Vita copy of Rainbow Moon (definitely getting the PS4 version).

I must be the on,y person who wasn't a fan of shadow complex. I finally finished the remastered version on the ps4 and enjoyed it I guess, but wouldn't buy a physical version of it. Guess that frees up a bit of money his month then! If they were to get N++ however I'd be all over that!

Do you normally like Metroidvanias?

I don't like the setting of SC, it's a bit too generic and "realistic" for my taste, but the gameplay is top notch. Very satisfying exploration and map design.

SC is a weird fit for PS4... definitely feels like it should be an Xbox game. Oh well, gotta take what I can get. I actually downloaded it a little after it released, and I really enjoyed what I played of it. A physical release would (will?) be a great reason to go back and finish the game.

That's how I feel about it too. Tonally it's not my cup of tea but it just feels so good to play.

Yes. Love the metroid series and all the Castlevania Metroidvania games, along with other games like guacamelee etc. I just didn't really find shadow complex to have a compelling map/enemies. I liked it, but just don't think it's as good as it's made out to be.

Last we heard Microsoft requires a minimum print run around 50k so don't expect them to ever get a release unless they decide to alter those rules.

Good detective work.

Shadow Complex would be their biggest release yet. Acclaimed cult classic from the makers of Gears of War. It would be a stellar release for gaining some momentum for LRG. It almost feels too "big" for LRG at this point IMO but you never know.

Yeah, it's quite the get. I'm kinda surprised.

I have never bought a game from LRG...but I really want Shadow Complex..does anyone know what the release date is going to be? Are these games usually hard to get?

I am thinking that SC will have a big enough run that getting it should be okay, but you should be there at the exact time it goes live. Could be gone in a few minutes or a few hours, hard to say

Make an account in advance and go to check out asap, only that reserves a game for you

Oof, nice detective work. On the one hand, I'm sad it's not a Vita game (and tbh, I'm sad there's not Shadow Complex on Vita), but on the flip side it'll save me a bit of money for August which I desperately need lol, especially with Rainbow Moon releasing the same day.

LRG have yet to released two games on the same day that I've been interested in, which is actually kind of a blessing for saving money lol.

Account made! Now we wait. I have it marked on my calendar! I appreciate it.

One of the more over rated games of last gen, imo.

I don't see any mention of looking into the bug some of us encountered (Soldner out of stock a few secs after it went live yet others could make an order minutes later), can I assume you will try to solve it?

It wasn't really a bug. Copies are reserved for a few minutes once a user clicks "check out", and only get removed from inventory when checkout is completed. Since items are still technically in inventory, but reserved, you can add them to your cart even when you can't actually initiate a checkout. If you happen to click "check out" after another customer backs out and releases their reserve, you can get an order through. That's why some people report success after clicking check out multiple times. Eventually they get lucky and catch one coming off reserve.

The best we can do is make sure people understand that adding an item to the cart is not a guarantee that its theirs. There would be a whole logistical can of worms if inventory was removed before checkout was actually completed and due to that, no eCommerce platform works that way. We could create a better queue like PAX has but even then I get the option to buy tickets that aren't actually in stock so that would not be a be all end all solution. There just isn't a super clean way to do this.

It's definitely a messy race condition for the software to have to deal with. Even though the current way it works can be a headache, I assume Shopify has tried different things and determined that this is pretty much the best way to handle.

On a naive look at it though, definitely seems to me like add to cart and checkout should handle reserved and purchased items in the same way. I'm not really sure what the issues are; the first thought is that people could tie up inventory by just adding to cart and leaving it, but if that prevents checkout then it's an issue either way. The only part I can think of where reserved vs gone would be a big distinction is display of remaining inventory.

I think that would help a lot. Reserved copies currenlty in the checkout process should show as sold on the site and be put back if the user cancels or times out. Not sure if that's possible in shopify though.

As I asked several times already, what the fuck would your solution do when the demand for the game was underestimated and people would miss out whether they started it over again or not? What happens when people abuse it again because it's unlikely that anything worth mentioning is going to be done to fix it in a matter of days? You want them to cancel orders again and retry another time, pissing off even more people? They can't keep trying over with this release when they have dozens of others that they want to get out eventually. They're smart enough to learn from a mistake like this or else they wouldn't continue doing this.

They know there is an issue, they aren't as blind as some of you seem to think. They have more to lose than there is to gain by letting the problem continue. Coming in here and shitting on them because you don't believe anything they have to say sure as hell isn't fixing anything either.
It's really a shame that there is no way for them to accurately gauge demand for titles. If only there was some way that people could reserve a copy or something like that that would give them an exact number of copies to order thus ensuring they weren't left with tons of copies unsold but yet keeping this insane scramble where people are using exploits to get an advantage and the system craps out due to the overwhelming demand. If only there were some well defined system used nationwide by companies large and small that would allow them to "pre-order" copies. Such a shame since that would solve the need of hiring an economist and web programmer to allow them to have a stable website and good estimates on copies to produce.

It's certainly doable since that's how ticketmaster works right now. If I add 2 seats to my cart it removes them from availability and adds a timer immediately and finalizes it when I complete the order.

I don't remember exactly what page it was, but they have explained the issues with a pre-order system. I'm not saying it doesn't also have its pros, but its not like Limited Run is doing this to spite everyone. They are doing whatever is the best fiscal option for them.

Even better, I'd love to see something like this:

But I always imagined there was some technical reason they didn't show more specifics on remaining inventory. Also probably because it all happens so fast, it would never be exactly right by the time you looked at it and processed the info.

It's certainly not being done out of spite but it would easily solve all of the problems people have been encountering while leaving the game still limited. It would also simplify the problem of figuring out how much demand there is for the game without the risk of overprinting.

Alright, I decided to sell my Shenmue Dreamcast Limited Edition to pay for Soldner X2 on Ebay and be back in the game.

Gutted, but what can ya do at this point.

Anyways, so three things to add to cart on the 19th :O

I think I'll check out with Shadow Complex + Vita Rainbow Moon, and then check out again with PS4 Rainbow Moon. Hopefully that works... I get the feeling that Shadow Complex will disappear in a flash once again.

Please, please, please go back to only letting people but two copies if there's still leftover stock after a day or so. There's no reason to start with allowing 2 copies IMO.

Yeah, TxK would be great.
Volgarr the Viking is making it's way to Vita as well. That would be great as an LRG title.

Wait for eBay prices to calm down. They're always extra silly after the initial sale.
Only three have actually sold and two of those were for $60.

hmmm, good point. Might wait a bit. It also helps that it increases the chances that I'm not buying from an obvious scalper. These pre-orders are disgusting.

Something like that would be absolutely incredible. You guys should pester Shopify regarding it.

Also:

TxK soooooo much! It needs preserving now Atari are trying to shut it down. However, I think it's unlikely because of that - hasn't the game been pulled from sale or something?

People might not want to get their hopes up for TxK given the current legal issues between Llamasoft and Atari. No way any new versions of TxK are getting released until that's all sorted out.

I was always under the impression that Rainbow Moon is booty. Is it actually a decent game? I'll get Shadow Complex, but I'm on the fence about RM. I was gonna skip it.

I've heard nothing but good things from people about Rainbow Moon, but maybe its just the group i hang out with

It's...

It's no Soldner X2, that's for sure. I felt like Soldner was a proper-good addition to its genre, while Rainbow Moon doesn't do the same for SRPGs. It's a somewhat decent strategy RPG, but a bit too slow for its own good, and everything takes forever to get going. Battles are far, far too slow and there's not much story to speak of.

Put it this way: I wouldn't play it again from the beginning, but I will continue my current save, and I actually look forward to what they will do with the sequel.

New thread on their forum.

We have been toying with this idea since we launched but we are getting really close to almost needing this now.

So here is what we are thinking. By the way we are running this idea through our forums first. <3

Limited Run Membership
Price: $30 a year
Includes: An exclusive shirt, membership card (with unique ID) and sticker.
Benefits: Get early access to order 1 copy per platform before it officially goes live.

There are a lot of logistics we have to figure out, but this way we can gauge demand better and give you first shot so you don't miss out!

I played Rainbow Moon for about an hour, I didn't like it at all. Then again, that's not really my type of game so it might click for you.
