Limited Run Games - What They Don't Want You To See.

What time is it?
Moriarty (stylized as mrixrt) recently released a follow-up video to his The Truth About Limited Run Games video due to the amount of outreach from former executives and employees of Limited Run Games.

It covers topics such as reprints, charity practices, cost saving measures (using CD-R media instead of pressed disks, requiring customers to pay for return shipping for damaged or faulty product, undervaluing exports to other countries), internal company culture, decision making, financial misappropriation, and so on. It's pretty interesting look at the company and really damning of the leadership.

Here is his original video that spurred this follow-up:

Both videos are worth a watch and the company has a lot more issues than taking forever to fulfill an order.

They're a shit company, both in terms their practices and quality control, but also what they did around Hogwart's Legacy to their own employee.

The idea of limited run physical games I think will become more important, since these later releases can throw everything with patches on the disc/game card, and you truly own the whole experience vs relying on servers (that can will get shut down) like an increasing amount of games now.

I'd just rather see other companies that do this same thing overtake them, and put them out of business.

It's like the worst kept secret ever that this company is filled to the brim with douche nozzles.

On the extremely rare occasion that I find myself really wanting one of their physical releases, I make it a point to only buy them from third party sellers on eBay so that the company itself doesn't see a dime.

100%. And what's even worse is big companies like Sega and Microsoft using them for releases. I get why smaller companies and indies use them, but it's embarrassing for companies like Sega and MS to release physical versions through them or anyone like them instead of doing it themselves. Period.

I'd rather eat a Spam sandwich than to ever buy anything from these clowns.
That's not the worst thing.

I've noticed that there are games that first appear on that page... As if it were the only option... I don't buy them... After 7 months, they already appear in stores like play-asia.com.

They still might see a dime. That's covered in the original video.

I've never bought a new / sealed copy of one of their games on eBay, and I assume that if they were scalping the games themselves they wouldn't bother trying to sell them used.

Was it just the one occurrence that they used CD-R? Or is it a common thing? I remember the recent controversy about that. There were like one or two games I wanted to get, but held off because I remembered they might just be lazily burnt discs.
