I don't know how the hell we deserve to host the Live 8 instead of Toronto, but it's nice to see Barrie among cities like Tokyo, Paris and London :lol .

Anyways, my friend and I managed to get tickets, any GAF members from T.O coming up to Barrie to watch the Live 8?

Maybe they decided on a smaller venue once they realized that they had a crappy lineup...

* African Guitar Summit
* Barenaked Ladies
* Blue Rodeo
* Bruce Cockburn
* Bryan Adams
* The Bachman Cummings Band
* Deep Purple
* DobaCaracol featuring Kna'an
* Gordon Lightfoot
* Great Big Sea
* Jann Arden
* Les Trois Accords
* Motley Crue
* Our Lady Peace
* Sam Roberts
* Simple Plan
* Tegan & Sara
* The Tragically Hip
* Tom Cochrane

....but then, it seems like London is the only Live8 concert of any interest. The rest of the world gets only stale crumbs of yesterday's talent while one mega-nation gets all of the best. Now we know how it feels to be African.

From what I read, Toronto didn't want to front the $733k that was needed to set all that stuff up.

To answer your question though, naw I'm not going! Sorry!

:lol

It's hilarious how badly London owns the other gigs...the Berlin show might not even happen with artists pulling out and venue details still to be finalized. Though it's not half as funny as seeing Barrie's name up there with London, Philly and Tokyo. :lol Hey, good for them I say...all the venues in Toronto were either booked, too small, or couldn't be setup in time or at a reasonable cost.

Downsview Park was where they held "Sarsstock" in 2003 with the Stones, AC/DC and Rush (400,000 people attended that one), but they had to build a stage up from scratch and had a hard enough time doing that with six weeks to go. Not to mention there's no concessions or washroom facilities there. Park Place in Barrie has all of those built in plus a great sound stage, so it's a good choice. Hope the locals enjoy it.
