Man, that was absolutely brutal trolling by Atlus.

So basically it seems that we've got a (probably non-canon) spinoff for the 3DS where all the characters seem to be the same age as they were in their respective games, the next mainline entry on PS3 only, P4A2 which probably continues to build on P4As plot for Arcade and PS3 and then a dancing spinoff with some mild story tie-in to P4 for Vita.

This will probably never happen. Six months US delay is the shortest time that sounds reasonable to me.

It's much better than a 3DS exclusive, but I do wonder why Atlus releases Persona on consoles that have just died. First the PS2 in 2008 and then the PSV in 2012.
