Live everywhere?

Ok, I'm confused - is Live a service accessible from any country or is it NOT a service accessible from any country? One thing is where the servers are - but logging on to it...? I'm hearing that it is only available in some 24 unknown countries? Should I cancel my 12-month subscription card or what?

PS. Ordered a UK console, UK games and UK Gold card, only I don't live in the UK. Latvia is my permanent place of residence.

Don't worry, you're LIVE will work there. As long as you have broadband, the system will connect to whatever servers are handling it's country of origin.
That means it'll connect through your broadband through your countries infrastructure, out to the UK and into it's infrastructure, to reach the UK servers.
I have a US xbox and live in Singapore. My friend has a Singaporean Xbox, and he couldn't get on live until they launched it here...

Ah, thanks. That is good to know. I was beginning to worry :)

Ping (which causes lag) might be an issue though. I live in Jordan (middle east) and it really worries me that I might never have a decent online experience with consoles/handhelds... I'm very tempted to get Mario Kart DS but worried that ping time might make online play practically worthless... I don't have friends who own DS so online would be the only way to play in multiplayer.
