Man, the rain combined with all the punctures/car repairs and camera-work is making this an insanely exciting race.

Has NBC been this bad about it in past Olympics?

In '96, I happened to be in the UK for the first week of the Atlanta Olympics and in the US for the second week. The quality of coverage was like night and day, completely. It gave me a new appreciation for the quality of the Beeb. A country *in* the US, and NBC only seemed to cover the events with major US medal hopes; that's not what I expect from an Olympic host broadcaster. On the Beeb I'd watched dozens of events with no direct GBR interest at all.

I went through the same thing when I went to America in 2004 midway through the Athens games. I was annoyed by the broadcasts only covering the sports America was strongly involved in.
