London GAFers: Little known things to do/see?

I'm spending the next 4 months in London, and in addition to all the touristy stuff I'd like to do things off the beaten path. Can any London members suggest attractions, sights, or places to eat? Preferrably for cheap? Thanks.

Mike, check your PMs.

If you like pubs, go to Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. It's been around since before Jesus - well, not quite - and it's got a really nice atmosphere.

Since you're going to the Tate Modern tomorrow, you could check it out then, since it's just around the corner from St Paul's.

And even i am moderately surprised
damn, can't remember the name of the bar...
but the one just off L. Square up towards China town...

feck... it looks tiny when you go in, but then you go down some stairs and it opens up and it's pretty big... has a tree in the middle of it.

that place kicked ass.

Tower of London is well worth a visit (although hardly little known)

If you're interested in anything art-related then I recommend the Tate Modern.

Yeah you cant go wrong in the famous galleries or Mueseums. They are free for admission too. :) Love the Tate.

Ikkyusan in chinatown rocks, they mix thai, japanese and chinese cuisine to make some pretty damn good set meals.

Namco station (near county hall) used to be awesome, but I haven't been there recently. It's not really well known, so you may wanna give it a shot.

Is namco station right opposite the thames? Near the Eye? I remember a namco arcade round there that had VOOT up untill a year ago or so, liked that place.

I think Namco station is now the London Aquarium.

For food, Poons (yes thats the right name) in Chinatown is great.

Try CEX on Warren street for import stuff and retro game shit. (off oxford street)

If you dress up as superman you get into Buckingham Palace for free.

CEX is crap now, i hear theres a much better alternatives that is near there though, someone mentioned something about it having PSPs on display.

Is that superman thing true? There really isn't any reason not to go around dressed as superman anymore.

CeX (Cex.co.uk) is on Rathbone Place
Game Focus (gamefocus.coo.uk) is on Goodge Street

As for social places, I can find any kind of bar I want on one small fairly unknown strip of road called Inverness Street in Camden. Come out of Camden Town station (right exit), turn right again and left where Virgin Megastore and Offspring are. This road has a spanish tapas bar that serves Sangria and has Falmenco drummers on Monday, A Brazillian bar with a pet parrot, a non-smoking Polish bar, a hip hop and breaks grafitti bar, a Malaysian restaurant with weird cocktails and nice food, a chilled European 'nu bar' with stunning waitresses and a mellow crowd and a trashy rock pub on the corner.

Otherwise, check out Cottons in Chalk Farm road for 150 different kinds of rum and AMAZING curried goat and other such awesome Carribean delicacies.
