Looking for a good Plasma TV for gaming

I know that's kind of an oxymoron but read the rest to see why I'm asking this.

I have a HDTV already (53in) but I want to get a second one for the other room. I want a plasma this time since I can mount it on the wall and my space is limited. I know the quality of plasmas isn't so good but I was wondering if there were any in particular that were actually pretty decent. I'm looking for 32 to 42in. The room is very well lit btw.

Edit: Question 2, any plasmas support 1080p?

Who told you this?

Plasmas is second only to CRT for picture quality (with holding new tech SET/OLEDs) DLPs/LCDs cant compare to a Plasma.

TH-42PHD7UY is what I suggest, $2,595

If you have to buy a plasma, I would say either get one of the high-zoot Fujitsus (if you have money to burn) or, better yet, get one of the Pannys (best value in Plasma today) or *maybe* one of the Pioneer (not the Elites) which also have nice PQ but are more expensive than the Pannys...

I have a Panny TH-50PX25U/P that I use for some gaming and as a computer monitor...

I am typing this message on it right now :)

Pioneer Elites are fantastic, but you're paying for optical glass as much as tech - a lot of the componentry and circuitry is identical to their lower end sets. So you could save cash and get a "vanilla" Pioneer.

WAIT.

You have mainstream 50" 1080p plasmas coming end of this year and 42" next year. Dont rush.

Plasma are killer displays. Second only to CRT in contrast and black levels. No flicker. Best angle viewing. No delays unlike LCD. No geometry issues or uneven focusing found in CRT. I'd say they are the best if you are prepared to spend. By spend you are looking at over 10,000 :p

Cons are the weight. They are heavy due to screen size and the glass. Although Pioneer claim they will use plastic soon. The other is screen burn in which you dont really hear happening much anymore.

Does not compute, bad idea.

Plasma are great for gaming. Who would want to play on a killer 42" or 50" screen? :) Be careful of burning in things like huds if they will stay on screen without any breaks for very long periods. Say something like GT4 24 hour events. You will want to pause now and again to get rid of the speedometer as its not transparent?

I've always read that plasmas are very suseptible to screen burn in... has this changed? Thats why I always ruled them out for gaming and went straight to DLP.. because the picture quality sure is fantastic on a plasma.

I'd really only consider DLP for the next year or two.. Maybe when these fancy next-generation 1080p plasmas drop to a reasonable price in a couple years the burn-in issues will be lessened.

Some people overplay the burn in issues. Go to a plasma forum and see how many people actually get burn in. Regular usage will never cause burnin. Carelessness does like i dozed off for 6 hours and left my Toy Story dvd paused with no screensaver applied. Some brands are alot less likely to get burnt in. Thats why many recommend brands like Panasonic since they are pretty rugged and use clever techniques to prevent the chances of it happening. :)
