• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Xemu has been looking good lately.

Is there any reason to want Outrun 2 vs patched coast to coast on PC?
XBOX version has two secret tracks from Daytona 2 that don't exist in other ports.

PC version is also still lacking some post processing bloom effects even after using the patch.

What OG Xbox games are both not available elsewhere and worth playing today?

Outrun 2
Otogi 1/2
Mech Assault 1/2
Brute force (ehh...)
Ninja Gaiden Black
PGR2

are the ones I can think of? any else?
Morrowind with controller support. Same with KOTOR if I remember correctly. That's hugely important to me, at least.

You're thinking of Xenia, and it looks like LO is in a pretty good state there.

Though the OG and best version of Deadly Premonition is still broken in Xenia :(

Yeah. They really need to get the graphics problems with Deadly Premonition fixed. It has been years now.

Compiled a list of exclusive og Xbox games mentioned that are worth playing (or emulating i guess)

There are a few Xbox only exclusives like Unreal Championship, Quantum Redshift, Apex, Forza Motorsport, Azurk. However it was also the superior platform for most console only releases due to it's more powerful hardware. Some early cross-platform titles had distinct advantages compared to the PC port like Tony Hawk 2 and Halo:Combat Evolved, as the Xbox had an early concept of shaders that were not present on the PC. So some games have graphic effects that are exclusive to the Xbox port.

I was playing some Genma Onimusha. It is the director's cut of Onimusha. It runs great.

It looks like increasing the internal resolution corrupts the subtitles a little bit. So, you are better off not cranking the resolution up.

For some weird reason, Dr. Muto crashes. No idea why.

I need to run Gauntlet: Dark Legacy and Gunvalkyrie. Gunvalkyrie is actually a good test for the emulator because it has such an oddball control scheme.

Has anyone tried the Buffy the Vampire Slayer game?

It looks really good for a 6th gen game and regret selling my og xbox before playing it
It's great, like a Virtua Fighter action-adventure. Buffy has a huge moveset.
It's like you're playing Sarah Bryant but often against multiple opponents at once.

The multiplatform-sequel made 5 more characters playable but everyone had severely reduced/simplified movesets making it clearly inferior to the XBox-exclusive first game.

Oh. I forgot about Second Sight. That might also be on pc.

Edit: Yeah. GOG has it.

Also, there are The Suffering games. GOG has those too.

There are also the really good Incredible Hulk and Punisher games.

There is also a Superman game that is based of the comic.

Yeah. The Buffy games are like extra episodes of the tv show.

The Crimson Skies 2 game must have a lot of content or video. The game is 3GB in size.

I wish Xemu had a menu showing the boxart of the games. That is what it is missing.

I did find a hard drive image with the XBox dashboard on it. Archive.org has it.

XBox also had a special version of Fatal Frame.

Also, let us not forget. Grabbed by the Ghoulies.

Apparently, Gungriffon is good.

Also, I totally missed out on Midnight Club.

Adding to what @bender already suggested: Blinx The Time Sweeper, Dead Or Alive 2 Ultimate and Dead Or Alive 3, Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volley, Crimson Sea, Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders, PGR1, Jet Set Radio Future, Sega GT 2002 and/or Sega GT Online, and my dear Breakdown

I think the XBox one has a unique colour palette and lighting still missing on every other version. I don't know if fans patched it on PC down the line

Yes!!! Underrated gem - it is BC compatible if you have a disc!

The Amped games are also Xbox exclusive and pretty good.

I am downloading Project Gotham Racing because, apparently, it is video game Jesus.

Also downloading Ninja Gaiden Black because Sigma screwed things up.

Does it plays good on the emulator?

Most on that list remain xbox exclusives but a couple of them are available on PC and currently sold on Steam.
Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders
Voodo Vince had a remaster released several

Ghost Recon 2 and Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike only had OG Xbox releases and play well on Xemu (there was also separate PS2 versions). Although, last time I played it there were some random graphical bugs, not sure if their sorted yet...

Main thing I want for the future with Xemu besides fixing obvious glitches in remaining games...is HD Texture pack support like Dolphin or PCSX2.

I've heard there are some manual methods you can do that are possible, but nothing easy enough that people really ever do it.

Enough third-party console-only games from that gen look/ran best on xbox, so if those versions could do higher-res textures + the pixel resolution upscale would be the dream.

I was always kind of annoyed how they handled Fable. Essentially, they cut content when they released it and then made another release with the missing content.

Prince of Persia Warrior Within is a good test for Xemu. I am noticing some graphics issues in the storm on the first level. There is some slowdown, but that may be accurate emulation.

Check it's repo on Github. I think it is just PC.
There's also a Linux version that can be loaded in distros like Rocknix, which runs great on the Retroid Pocket 5 (don't think it'll work with the 6 though, sadly, as it doesn't support dual booting Android and Linux).

Yeah. Xenia runs Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon perfectly. It also runs Condemmed 2.
I guess I should get Enchanted Arms.

Some other 360 JRPGs are Infinite Undiscovery and Resonance of Fate.

The Last Remnant is on Steam and it is the best version.

Xenia is a great way to get those old JRPGs onto the PC.

Resonance of Fate got a 4k remaster as well

It looks like Record of Agarest War is on Steam too, but named Agarest: Generations of War.

I always hate it when they change the titles to JRPGs. It makes things confusing.

Got it up and running last night. Should a 3070 be capable of running games smoothly or is it just hiccups in the emulator itself? PD Orta and Outrun 2 were a bit choppy.
