If there's anyone out there that knows about how this all would work, I'd much appreciate it. I've always been told I have a voice for radio (haha, seriously), but now that there's open tryouts for an urban/metal station nearby...I figure might as well. The positions open are for on-air only, it seems.

Now all I have to do is figure out how the tryouts work out. If all else fails, I could call beforehand and ask about it, heh.

I can only provide some second hand information via friends who have worked at the campus radio station. Along with voice, the most important thing is going to your knowledge of music and what you can bring to the table that existing DJs don't already do. You know, how stations all have their funny/raunchy morning show, mellow afternoon dude, etc. One of my friends suggests having a sample layout for a show time slot (from beginning to end of the particular shift you're looking to fill), showing that you have the ability to manage a show, as well as strike a good balance between talk and music. If you have any more questions, I can call my friend and ask him some more for you.
