Ahhh it's not so bad, I'm going through the ropes with the software right now and it's pretty easy to get a handle on. Especially if you're extremely well acquainted with Maya/Max.Tain said:but... I couldn't stand what I tried of XSI. Just seemed like a horrible, horrible interface.

I wouldn't promote this software over Maya at all but it's still pretty nice.
Ohhhhh, I always run my stuff at 1280x960, gets kinda hectic in the endgame but I can't live without the detail.Tain said:I've got a bit of the problem with the program needing such a high resolution without much of a reason. I know you can download layouts suited for lower resolutions, or I could just stop being lazy and ancient and switch away from 1024x768. I might try it again, some time.
Well, XSI's a modelling package, so I kinda doubt they'd use Maya or Max.
Also, apparently, Softimage just released a fairly full-featured XSI package for something like $500. Incredibly cheap.
I've heard talk of that but I've never seen it in person. I'm pretty new to the program, know any other things XSI does better? So far I'm pretty damn impressed with it but I still love Maya. One thing for sure XSI is growing on me. Yeah I know, I should hit up the forums but I've been kinda tied lately with a ton of work!TAJ said:Depends on what renderer you want to use, really. The Mental Ray integration in XSI is far better than in Maya.

I don't know. I've heard great things about Softimage when it comes to giving support to their customers, and it WAS used for RE4 and HL2, but... I couldn't stand what I tried of XSI. Just seemed like a horrible, horrible interface.

Cool beans. Mojib Ribbon and Vib Ripple also have listings on their site, although Vib Ripple's only contains screenshots.Afro Thunder said:There are another cases. Very cool.

Date of Lies said:wow, someone who is really in the know in the 3D modelling scene told me that SoftImage is very rarely used for videogames and that I should focus on 3Dstudio and Maya.
Does anyone think this'll pick up?
