Looks like Stallone is doing Rambo V :(

IMO, The Expendables movies are forgettable, and Rambo IV felt like an excuse to show some crazy action/violence.

Rocky was legit, though. I hope this is good.

As far as Rambo goes, the premise is so ridiculous...
but then again, Rambo 4 have Rambo killing a shit load of soldier. Need to step up the game to make the audience interested.

I'm there day one with bells on. Here's hoping he got all of the PG nonsense out of his system with the Expendables, I want a one-way ticket to Goretown USA

I just watched the first Rambo on Netflix and was surprised at the movie.
It was this strange, sad sort of indie flik that I really enjoyed. And then it turned into this massive franchise.

The original has held up surprisingly well. A lot of the topics are as irrelevant today if not more so. Senseless wars and the soldiers returning, corrupt police, gun ownership and shootings.

I thought First Blood pretty much covered that with his breakdown at the end?
...
man, First Blood is a great movie though.
They show flashback of him being tortured. He has a handlebar mustache in Vietnam. In the end he opens up about the senseess violence and death everywhere but there's much more to it and it can be fleshed out in more detail. That should make a good prequel.

There was also that deleted flashback sex scene where you could behold his paste-on mustache in all its glory.

Though I wouldn't mind a movie covering his training and various things that happened in Nam, cept Stallone is beyond too old to play 70's Rambo, Crenna is dead and replacing them with younger actors is lame-o.

I really enjoyed the last one. He's just mowing Burmese solders down by the dozens at one point with some of the worst cgi blood you'll ever see. They probably saved a fuck ton of money by going with the cheapest special effects company in Hollywood. Digital Playground have done better with some of their features.

What?

I thought the gore looked very brutal and shocking.. never did I think it looked cheap, I was rather surprised that they actually had gore and didn't go for a PG-13 rating.

It's a job that Rambo and his 22-year-old hunting partner, Beau Brady, can't turn down, but they and a team of highly-skilled special forces kill team discover that the prey is a terror beyond their wildest imagination - a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments. It has man's cunning, a predator's savageness, and a prehistoric power that has transcended the ages. And even if Rambo and Beau survive its unrelenting hunger for human blood, they'll still have to contront the grim reality that it may have grown immortal.

dafuq... sci-fi Rambo?

The fighting in the movie were the only good parts. Everything else was horrible. They should stop even trying to make a story. Just straight do 75 minutes of nonstop fighting.

Terrible opinion. First Blood was more story centric than violence centric, hence why it's the best one.

They should just get it over with and do Rambo vs. The Terminator before they both die. Everyone knows it should happen.

If he directs it I'm all for a new Rambo, if he passes it off to some other dudes like the last two Expendables I won't even watch the trailer.

Also wtf, why would they show him having sex in vietnam? what was the purpose behind it?

It was a flashback while he was hiding out in the cave after the "They drew first blood" scene. After he remembers it he starts crying so I can only assume his current situation is so shit that even that was now a fond memory for him.
