In anycase Representing Los Feliz here. Place is amazing, the area is great, quiet and I have everything in an arms reach. Metro, bus, and not too far from most anywhere I drive. Also some of the best greek/pizza Ive found as well as italian.

If you want good italian go to Capriccios on Vermont, and El Greco pizza cafe makes a mean Gyro.

Used to live in los feliz between the ages of 12 and 14 them moved back to Florida. I loved LF at that age. Even went to Los Feliz elementary.

Moved to Glendale about two months ago, still getting used to being on west coast again. Thanks to you all for helping me compile a list. I must say I am impressed with LAGaf. You guys are awesome!

Now anyone know some more good burger joints as well?

Choose your area carefully. LA has cool spots, but getting anywhere is a real pain.

The First few months I will probably be stay with my cousins or my friend. Where I end up depends on which Film school I get accepted to.

Have you been to the abandoned zoo there? I'm going to shoot something there soon, whenever I figure out what it is I want to shoot.

The old zoo is much easier to get to than the caves.

Crappy but slowly improving thanks to gentrification and the downtown renovation. I graduated about 5 years ago before a lot of the changes took place and I didn't have a problem with the neighborhood.

i've been meaning to catch the lobster truck.

Tito's Tacos is good but overrated.

In n Out if the best fast food regular burger, IMO. Good shakes, too. I kind of like the fries.

Speaking of Grilled Cheese: The Foundry on Melrose has Chef Greenspan's award winning short rib grilled cheese. It's expensive but fucking great.

edit: Also the grilled cheese truck is good. Have to try buttermilk.

I live within walking distance of Tito's Tacos. I went once and I have no desire to go again. Waiting in line for a sub standard hard taco is criminal. There are so many better taco options in the area.

I say we have a Redondo Beach get-together. Then I could at least ride my bike to it.

I'm not a big fan of Redondo Beach aside from the actual beach area. The South Bay feels so inaccessible because of how removed from the 405 it is. I could possibly compromise on Hermosa Beach but if we were doing a West LA GAF meetup I'd rather go to Venice or Santa Monica.

My favorite place to buy uncooked Carne Asada for BBQs is Sanchez Meat Market on Inglewood just south of Culver in Culver City. Decent price for prepared meat, which is marinated in lime, pico de gallo seasoning, and green onions. Buy a couple pounds of that, tortillas, and queso fresco and you are ready to party.

That place is virtually across the street from my apartment. I go there from time to time and do exactly what you've described.

Hello LA(-area)-GAF! I like this thread; it's noisy, confusing, chaotic, but brimming with excitement, just like LA.

Let me give a shout-out to my home, Burbank, which will never have a top-10-ANYTHING with regards to fun or nightlife, but is a nice quiet place to live. And, with a car, much of the awesome stuff in and around LA is close (without traffic, heh heh heh):

-Griffith Park (one of the largest urban parks in the world): 10 min
-Hollywood Bowl (amazing outdoor concert venue): 10 min
-Hollywood & Highland (touristy shit + clubs): 15 min
-Alhambra/Monterey Park (dim sum, hot pot, etc.): 15 min
-Downtown (Disney Hall, capitalism): 15 min
-Dodger Stadium (there once was a professional baseball team here): 15 min
-3rd & Fairfax (Farmers' Market, Miracle Mile, museums): 20 min
-Beverly Hills (rich fuckers, some great restaurants): 25 min
-Santa Monica (beach, pier, boardwalk, shopping, restos): 25 min
-LAX (getting the fuck out of LA): 30 min

I honestly don't mind driving, because that's the only way to get anything close to a "full" experience of the place. I've been here nearly 10 years and I'm still discovering new facets. DON'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU SEE ON TV!!! LA is MUCH more than that.

So I was born here, my family moved out to Houston when I was 4. I've been back a few times. I'm now almost 23, and I'm visiting again. I still have a little over a week left... what must I do before I leave?

I've done the Hollywood thing, and I've been to a few restaurants and tourist attractions before (Rosco's, Pinks, Watts and others). What should I absolutely experience before I leave? I'll try to throw it in the schedule if it's possible. I'm in south central btw.
