Lost in Blue

Looks interesting to me. Ico meets Harvest Moon in a way perhaps? At least the open format of the game should allow some actually touch screen/dual screen usage.

Hey game developers! If you can't make rain look good, don't put it in the game!

Other than that, this looks pretty good. Looks like it might have a good puzzle like interface to make a fire. Hopefully has a bit more depth than just a "Survival Kids 3D" title.

I saw the trailer yesterday and was impressed. It doesn't look very good, but the actual game seems pretty cool and has a very nice concept. Konami MIGHT be able to sell me on a DS. Between this and CV, the possibility is beginning...slowly. It's just that, looking at the current lineup and all future titles (outside of thsoe two), there isn't a single other title that interests me. :\

See, I don't think it looks all that bad, especially for a DS game. Before I saw the trailer, I was expecting the worst going by all the comments, but after watching it I came away fairly impressed.

It's very easy to say that it looks ugly, but is it really? I thought it looked surprisingly good. Not amazing, not even good N64 quality, but I wouldn't call it ugly. It's simply, just like the 2D Survival Kids on GBC was.

That said, I really wonder about the DSs' capabilities. Nintendo says it's between N64 & Dreamcast - yet most DS games in full 3D look worse than N64 (Mario Kart DS an obvious example of a DS game looking better than it's N64 counterpart). I would say the DS probably is more powerful than the N64, but like the N64 generation, companies other than Nintendo might have a hard time maxing out the hardware.

That said, the whole point of the DS is to somewhat downplay graphics and focus on gameplay. Lost in Blue looks fantastic as a game, not quite so much as a graphic showcase of the DS.

Yeah, but it would benefit so much from improved visuals...

The theme is just begging for more. Imagine ICO with visuals such as this. I really think Lost in Blue would benefit greatly from such a visual style. For being an island of this type, I would love to experience a massive sense of scale and beauty and think it would really add to the experience.

This is actually one of the only games to really excite me at Konami's event yesterday. Although, in retrospect, it was largely because I wasn't expecting them to make this announcement.

It was also really depressing to see 4 abandoned DS units loaded with Frogger... nobody wanted to touch that shit. :(

Graphically, I think like it or not, we're all going to have to get used to the lower standard of visual quality for DS games from now until eternity. Sure, there will be the occasional "whoa, why can't every developer do this?!" kind of title, but getting into huge threads about the DS' shitty graphics (and having it devolve into a DS vs PSP thang) really needs to become a thing of the past.

That game looks really damn fun, now we're starting to see DS's potential ...

The 3d isn't that bad for something this early, I'm gonna keep my eye on this one ... and seek out the older one : )

Survival Kids GBC is an island survival game. Hunt, dig, explore, eat, sleep, combine found items to create fire, weapons, etc...

Exactly, and there are a couple of more games like that.

Looks fun, about on par with Konami's early N64 stuff really. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if this was a revived N64 project.

Any idea which studio's behind it? KCEJ, KCET or KCES?

...such as?

If you're skipping this because it's a "been there, done that" kinda game, I guess you don't really play many games period 'cuz virtually everything released today has been done before...

ahh and me without GBC. oh well.

this one does look nice though, interesting to say the least, up till last week i was not even considering a DS after some hands on with one and seeing afew of these games announced i am starting to lean the other way.

It looks ok, though I can't imagine why anyone would be really excited about it.

I am extremely disappointed with the DS software. The only games that I have real interest in are that Yoshi game (and I normally don't care for these games,) the new Wario, Advance Wars DS, and possibly the new Castlevania.

Besides those games, there's nothing I'm really looking forward to.

In any case, the rest of the Konami showcase yesterday was awful. That TMNT game looks as if it was made with a Quake 2 engine and the 3d Castlevania looks horrendous.

Yeah the game does look very interesting. However, I disagree with some of you about the graphics. I think they are good for what the DS offers, and will be perfect for the style of the game. Yes Mario Kart is considerably better, but hey, these graphics are good enough.

Yeah, this game looks pretty interesting, though it may be my blind, unrequenting love for Harvest Moon that is making me think so. I'm just happy to see a game that actually tries to do something different here. :)

Care to elaborate? I would sure like the play 'em...

[:/medeocre at best sarcasm]In the meantime I'll stick to my Halo 2, 'cause that wasn't a "Been There, Done That" title at all[/medeocre at best sarcasm]

Looks cool..

Wonder if you you can play over wireless with someone and they can control the other character...that'd be kinda cool.

Well, I'm excited, the GB one was pretty fun. DS is starting to (finally) roll up a decent software library.

Ahh, this then is Survival Kids 3, in effect?

Excellent, I picked up the original for the GB not too long ago and am quite fond of it. Pity we never got the sequel. I hope Konami rectifies that error with Lost in Blue...

Ahh, I wasn't sure if you were referring to me there, or to whoever announced a VH DS game.

For the record, I picked up the VH games (both of them) only a few months ago, and have yet to play them.

But I'm always good for handheld RPGs, ARPGs, Strat/RPGs, whatever.

just saw the video - aside from the general N64 horribleness; the game does look really really nice and could be a real sleeper. Different;that's for sure.

the icoish elements looks like they could work very well. too
