Yeah...that's my feeling. Sydney the Mentor? It just doesn't sound all that fun, does it? Here's hoping for an excessively larger amount of Jack/Sloane, not the new girl. While the show's downfall is the fault of Lena Olin leaving and making the third season as intolerable as it was, it is Affleck that is now speeding its ascent. I'll be watching...but I'll be none too concerned.

Agreed. Picked up Alias midway through the first season and been watching it ever since, but it has since fallen into the mind frame that I reserved for X-files. I watch it, and I actively enjoy it when it is there in front of me.. but I hardly concern myself with the plot and the characters outside of that hour. Hell, if it wasn't for a friend telling me the premier was this Thursday I would have missed it entirely.

On that note, any idea how this season is going to pick up considering the half assed twist last season?

It was half assed but awesome because it was completely out of nowhere.

I don't know how that ends in particular but there is one good thing I know.
Nadia's in a coma! And no longer a regular cast member! Woo!

It's a light spoiler, but awesome.

Agreed all around. Half assed, but they have hinted at things like this before, and at least they teased at the idea earlier in the episode, and didn't club us over the head like a certain other show. As for the
Nadia in a coma
how the hell does that come about? Seems like
she was being setup to replace Sydney, and with the whole Sloane's daughter thing... that is an interesting turn. Any word on Irina/Lena Olin being back for a bit?

I wouldn't count on it: Her coming back the once was just a fucking tease. Nadia is in a coma because Sloane shot her in the finale. Not sure if she dies or what, but she's not a regular.

HA! I completely forgot about that bit at the end of last season. Wow.. just goes to show you I wasn't kidding when I said I enjoyed my hour in front of the set with those characters, but hardly thought about it outside of then.

Should be interesting either way, especially since this looks to be the last season, correct?

Either that, or we get another January start in 2007 after Jen and Ben's baby gets some time to know Mommy. But, I would expect it to be the last season unless it someone starts destroying Survivor in the ratings.

I've read that most of the original cast, aside from Jennifer Garner, only has contracts for 5 seasons, which would make a further renewal problematic.

Also, regarding Lena Olin --
I guess plans could change, but she's confirmed to be returning sometime this season.
