It wasn't an AMV. It was an OVA!Ichabod said:Does anyone remember a short Chrono Trigger themed AMV starring Gato and a Nu? I recall a friend of mine DLing it somewhere and iirc it was pretty humorous.
I agree with all that was stated. I've only been talking about the "best" builds but that doesn't mean they are my favorite. I already said that I don't use the true broken builds because they aren't fun at all. You are a stronger man then I though. I can't ditch Crono when I have him. It's the equivalent of tier whoring in SF but I can't drop him. Of course there is a time when he isDark Schala said:Point taken. The best thing about Chrono Trigger is that the characters are usually balanced. Versatility is the strongest asset in this game, and a lot of the characters exhibit it. Even Robo (who, when paired with Frog and Crono can use Triple Raid, which is really cheap to use and does a lot of damage). People just play the game differently, so they use the characters that fit their playstyle. You seem to emphasize speed, which is perfectly fine with a Crono/Ayla/party.Magus
But I try to make the game more difficult by gimping the party in terms of special equipment, or kicking Ayla out of the party. I used a Marle/Lucca/Robo or Marle/Frog/Robo party for the last portion of the game without NG+ in both the SNES and PSX versions because it was kind of fun. All the characters have their own abilities which make them fun to handle in a sense, so trying to come up with strategies for the "harder" parties is interesting. Like other people have said in this thread, Chrono Trigger is not a hard game at all because a lot of the game is very balanced, so trying to find ways to make it difficult by not grinding, not using tabs, using less-than-stellar equipment, not using tabs, etc is a little fun in a way.
Though when I go through the game on a fresh new game or if I'm doing character sidequests, I like to use the relevant characters to that time period, or the ones that'll get good dialogue. It's just a personal preference. Nothing wrong with that.
I have a problem with the synergy in that one. Marle/Robo/Frog combinations are kind of silly since you are on a full healing cool down. The speed of Robo also really doesn't line up well with other supporting characters. For that team to really be sharp, Crono/Robo would have to be complimentary. They are actually overwriting characters who don't go very well together. If I want Marle/Robo then I'm going to bring in Frog. That is a pretty cool team. Either that or you go Lucca/Marle/Robo, which is also quite unique.JasonMCG said:I was always fond of the Chrono/Marle/Robo team. You can Confuse/Frenzy or Luminaire with Chrono and Ice Tackle with Marle/Robo as it's ridiculously overpowered. You also have Doubke Cure when needed.

Masamune is pretty boss...not sure why you think that. 15 energy casts are better choices then the uzi punch. Mega bomb, area bomb, frog squash, dino tail... 12 energy for a single tech, single enemy spell is kind of an odd choice. Even Crono's frenzy, which many like I'm sure, is kind of a waste. <15 energy for dual|trip techs/heals, >=15 energy is AoE.TheYanger said:Having long since had a file where everyone was tabbed up, I always found the 'best' group to be Chrono Robo and Lucca. Frog sadly lags HORRIBLY once you do a new game + since his best weapon is hamstrung to being the shitty masamune for most of the game.
Robo with full magic is the best healer in the game, shock is great, with the crisis arm you can usually do extremely powerful single target with uzi punch, etc. Lucca just does beast damage with flare.

The FF4DS remake is probably the best remake they've made.
Speed RatingsNatetan said:you think robo is slow? lucca and marle are super slow too!
Plus you pick up tons of speed tabs through the game, i give a lot of them to robo. luca at least has the tabin equipment to speed her up. marle isn't worth it since frog is fast.
And I always thought it was kind of boring, but mand is the peaceful days not full of happiness. makes me just happy to listen to it

Giving speed tabs to a gimped character is kind of odd. You should just give them to the characters who are already better to further improve them. He also has very few redeeming qualities outside being a great punching bag. You also can't control characters under berserk...Natetan said:um, so just give robo the speed tabs you find...(somewhat unrelated you can charm a ton of them from those statue enemies in the black omen)
plus i think if you equip the berserker, you attack a lot faster or something. i use both berserkers a lot actually
my fav characters are robo, ayla, and frog (and chrono too fo course)
Nah, it should be pretty obvious that there will be a ton of builds based on the game balance. That's a good team though as long as you can ignore the overwhelming power of Ayla.mr. puppy said:wtf i thought everyone did Crono/Frog/Lucca. Flare frog spell does stupid damage, and so does luminaire, and frog has a heal all spell.

She is your worst character. But in the game she is only outclassed by Crono.mr. puppy said:So Marle is the worst character right? A ton of single target buff spells and no ultimate damage dealer (20 mp spell) just didn't seem important to me.

Technically it was going to be 10 short interactive scenes (Crono's House count for two scenes) and with no Robo nor Ayla, rather than a full remake.Ichabod said:WOW! How did I miss this? Schala making with the goods yet againThat's exactly what I want!
I like Chrono a lot, so I like to keep up with what some of the more interesting fan projects are doing. It wasn't really much of a game per se, though, though the "Nintendo 64 version" was to be a full remake. You can read up on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrono_Resurrection and here: http://www.chronocompendium.com/Stories/28Ichabod said:WOW! How did I miss this? If you're interested in the music that was going to be in the game.

The 2D fangame Prophet's Guile was pretty good too. It was a very short side story (as long as 3 Chrono Trigger chapters) depicting the part of CT when Magus gets back to Zeal, but from Magus's point of view instead of that of Crono (who is in Prehistory). It was way more polished than Crimson Echoes and had a more consistent script:Dark Schala said:I like Chrono a lot, so I like to keep up with what some of the more interesting fan projects are doing. Here's a little more, though it's mostly about the music. It does contain some footage of the game, though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8rSlTo5lK8&feature=related
And I really like Chrono Resurrection's Zeal mix, even if it omits some of the sitar stuff that made it very memorable and replaced it with an acoustic guitar instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaxwzH2vP2I
The next best thing to a Chrono Trigger 2 we'll ever get is the fanmade game Crimson Echoes, though it's in 2D.
