I just finished the series. My short review, holy shit, cave my chest in.

I've been an off and on anime fan for a while. Nothing lately grabbing my attention. I just can't seem to get into Naruto or Bleach. Anyway, I purchased Gungrave a year ago, hoping some good would come out of it, but never got around to watching it. A few weeks ago I watched the first two DVDs, I was turned off and annoyed. It came off as cheesy, and I thought Grave looked like a fucking clown. But I stayed with it, and I'm glad I did. The payoff is amazing. This thing just kept getting better after every episode. It became an addiction.

Understanding Brandon and Harry's friendship. Trying to figure Brandon out, what he wanted in life, why he treated everyone the way he did. Watching Harry's rise to power, and watching Brandon struggle with it. Then the epic war. And that ending. My God, I saw it coming a mile away, and I still felt my heart skip a beat once it went down. There are a lot of flaws here, but all forgivable. It's just great to feel the story pushed forward with friendship, while the action came into play at appropriate times. And Bunji ranks up there as one of the most badass assassins in anime.

Indeed, one of the best anime I've watched. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better ending than Gungrave's, as it brings upon so many different emotions.

And like he said, get to watching Monster. You'd probably really enjoy that as well.

Really great show outside the first ep and a few of the future vs. stupid monster boss eps. One of Kuroda's stronger scripts and the character design was awesome and more true to Nightow than Trigun anime was. Had great voice actors too.

the first half was just so good, the second half wasnt as good but I wouldent call it bad.

I watched the anime after playing the game, but I didnt realize it until the later half when I started to have crazy deja vu.

the game barely had a story.

I played the game again after and while it was all great fun, other than the characters it is hard to tell they are related.

I didn't like the anime when it involved all the weird monster stuff. The organized crime aspect was extremely well done though and all the characters rocked. The ending was amazing though, heartbreaking.

I bought the dvd set on eBay but it turned out to be a chinese dub, well not dub I have the box and all the dvd jewel cases and all. But its definitely a copy and the english subtitles are terrible, everything sentence has a spelling error. I never went past the first few episode but always heard good things about it. I'll try watching it again.

Same old opinion here, well done "mafioso" characterization, awful when the monsters appeared in the scene.
