So I watched both seasons in the last weeks...

Random thought:

- Season 1 was better than Season 2
- But Season 2 had some really brilliant scenes. And I can remember more "setpieces" from S2 than from S1.
- Frank being bi caught me off guard. Dat threesome. Damn. Dont mind it though. Fits to the character
- The scenes with Freddy, the ribs guy were nice. Felt bad when he had to sell his business
- Rachels story line was freaking boring. At least we got a lesbian sex scene out of it
- The president seemed so weak and helpless. I expect more alpha mentality from a president
- The sudden death of the newspaper in the first episode of season 2 came out of fucking nowhere. damn.
- so now he's president. impressive. i assume season 3 will show franks downfall? would suck. i can relate with frank. most interesting person in that show. all the others were scrubs.

bumping this thread cause nobody answered back then lol.

did people really lost their love for it after the second season?

Nobody likes you.

I only starting watching in March and finished season 2 in April. It's a fantastic show and I'm looking forward to season 3. There is many areas they could go towards. If you can relate with Frank then you have some issues (I already knew that though).

Season 2 was way better. Somehow more things happened and it was faster paced.

Feel that the whole plot of the wife's non for profit is going nowhere.

The episode that really broke my <3 was
Steak place bro losing everything.

I literally just finished the last episode of the second series.

Yeah S2 is a bit of a step down. Felt like Frank did a bit too much of the same school yard politics and his stick of constantly lying to both sides got old. Felt like they had much for filler in S2.

Still good though. Just a little drawn out. They quickly closed all the stories from S1 in the first 2 episodes and then they just span their wheels for a few episodes until the shit hit the fan in the finale few.

I think they can probably get 2 more series out of it if they wanted. One centring around a election and another that leads to his downfall. Or maybe they do both in one.

I have kind of forgot what the point in Rachel is. Feels like they dont know what to do as well but she was one of the few who was still free to work for another series so they kept her.

Anyway no matter what way they go I just want one scene where Frank helps out Freddy and buys him a house and a new restaurant or something. Felt bad for that guy.

Also anyone watch the old BBC show its based on? I watched some youtube clips and it looks so weirdly similar I might give it a go.

The whole rivalry with Frank and the tycoon dude made no sense at all.
Frank was being cock blocked by the tycoon because he has a lot of influence over the president and he refused to give any of that up to Frank. So Frank did whatever he could to get all the influence and vise versa.

It was all about power and influence.

Didn't Frank say him and his college roommate fooled around in season 1 when they're trashing the library? I brought this up to a friend that had the same reaction to the Meechum scene that you did, and they had no idea what I was talking about. Pretty sure it happened though. Either way it made the moment way less shocking to me when it happened (that amazing over dramatic music though).

The first four or so episodes of the first season were amazing television, but everything after that has been basically a (mostly) well acted soap opera. I'd go so far as to say it's downright trashy a lot of the time, especially that god awful hacker guy and everything to do with him in season 2. But it's so much fun to watch Kevin Spacey chew it up that I don't mind, and I'm looking forward to season 3 way more than I was for season 2

Oh, and that episode focused on Freddy was awful. Great recurring character that totally got Creed'd and now we'll never see him again. Bah.

I get what they were going for. But they both were kinda idiots. The same with the president. They introduce these supposedly powerful people who have achieved so much, but then during the show are stupid and fall for simple tricks.

Just finished season two only started watching last week. Tremendous show wish i'd watched since it first aired. Can't really fault many things about it, even the "slower" episodes were solid. The presentation, acting, writing were all top notch. Loved the opening credits too, first season being better (S2 had slightly different music).

The Fact netflix will release all 13 new episodes when season three hits means a long marathon for me!

Season two episode one had me like  so wasn't expecting that! Awesome stuff. Shame about Doug too, he was my favourite character.

I wonder what he be Franks downfall? Murder of Peter, Zoey come back to haunt him in someway, or his many shenanigans with Garett, Tusk or the Chinese?

i assume season 3 will show franks downfall?

You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment.

Yeah, I marathoned this a few weeks back post-exams. Very gripping stuff, if a little one-note. Really like the character of Frank. I could hear Spacey drawl about the humanity of politics for hours.

i'm two episodes away from finishing season 2 so i purposefully didn't read the thread.

but I'm really in shock by how good it is. I feel legitimately dirty by all Frank's done, unlike an antihero, like, say, walter white who had a logical trajectory to how he got where he did. I really want the fucker to go down in the end.

that said most of season 2 felt like pedestrian poli drama schlock, alot of which could've been on network TV. but i guess they're just setting up the pieces and not trying to ramp up things all at once, in order not to become the next Dexter or something.

great show though. can't believe i just now got around to watching this

No, season 2 was amazing. As great or more great than season 1.

That ending was fucking thrilling. Frank is one of the greatest characters in tv history.

Yeah, it was insinuated that he and his school buddy were intimate, but I don't think they outright said it.

Kevin Spacey and Frank Underwood are high up there as best tv characters of recent times? Right there with Walter White right?

Walter White's had a lot more time to grow and is much more varied. The only character development we see in Frank is the increasing level of authority he attains, he's still the cold calculating bastard we meet in S1E1.

Saying that, some of my favourite moments are between him and Claire. That relationship is so fitting and interesting. Any other show that threesome would have been decried as being used for shock value, but it sort of makes sense.

Season 1 hooked me in and established itself as one of my favorite shows, and left me wanting more.

Season 2 came to my elation and continued to be one of my favorite shows, but this time left me needing more.

Yeah you're right. I'm also talking just in acting the part too.

I made it about three episodes in and couldn't stomach the show anymore. It was literally making me sick to my stomach.

The performances are good though.

I also recently just watched this show. I don't think it was as good as it was hyped up to be however it was still entertaining. Season 2 was more entertaining then season 1 but season 1 was definitely better. I know the whole show isn't exactly realistic but season 1 felt way more grounded and believable, season 2 they just said fuck it and made things a lot more exaggerated. My biggest problem with the show is that there are so many characters and plot lines that just disappear with very little explanation or resolution and it makes me feel as though they were just pointless/a waste of time.

season 3 is going to be frank making plans to take over the world. Season 4 will be King Frank and season 5 will be Emperor Frank

I thought season 2 was a let down. Frank just gets his way too easily, every time, and takes silly risks that make no sense (the subway push being the most egregious).

Season 2 moved way too fast for my liking.

Yeah they had a bunch of different B plots with completely different characters that started and ended every 3 or 4 episodes. Its probably the biggest problem between S1 and 2. 1 felt a lot more focused and didnt just start and drop stories like that.

In S1 they spent a lot of that time just developing Russo.
