I think what really makes Stardust Crusader is its home stretch (Pet Shop onwards basically). It's my favourite in the series and really elevates Part 3. Vanilla Ice and DIO's World are just something special.

I love jojo, but part 4 is.. Glorious beyond any comparison with other jojo arc..
Recent arcs instead... Ugh..
Even giorno Giovanna arc is not BAD BEYOND REDEMPTION, it's simply inferior jojo arc.. But after that, joline arc kicks in........

Steel Ball Run is a recent arc and it's freaking awesome so I can't agree.

If you're reading the old translations, then yeah, part 5 is pretty bad. Apparently it's popular in Japan iirc, so maybe we just got the short end of the stick.

I do find it funny the OP says he doesn't watch anime but has a Goku avatar. I mean... back in the day if you only had interest in Part 3 it was understandable since it was the go to part but now in the year 2015 you have a lot of ways of reading or watching Jojo from the start and you should never skip a part. Ever.

Ever.

Each Part is structured in a way that they could all be read in a stand alone fashion though. You might miss a few callbacks here and there since the whole series is one chronological continuity, but ultimately you could read Part 3 without knowing what happened in Part 2 or even Part 1, same goes for the other parts as well. I think Part 3 is a great starting-off point for newcomers because it's the most iconic part that never slows down and is always interesting.

That being said, I love watching or reading stuff from beginning to end and I did just that with Jojo. But if reading/watching Jojo out of order gets more people interested in it, then all power to them.

So I finished part 1, part 2, and part 4 of the manga and watched part 1 of the anime. This is quickly becoming my favorite series. I would say part 4 is the best so far. Jotaro is probably my Jojo still with my favorite stand. But outside of Star Platinum and The World, every stand in part 4 is much better than the ones in part 2 in design and how cool they are. I would say 4>3>2>1 but they all are amazing so far.

Part 4 really is great, it's a natural evolution of the concepts started in Part 3 and it is when Stands become far more interesting, power, concept and design wise. Great cast also.

glad to see so much love for part 4. It is the best JoJo, with the best villain, setting, enemy and friendly stands, story arcs and plot twists

part 3 is ace, and the final battle is truly epic, but Diamond is Unbreakable is just incredible
