I predicted the ending like halfway in.

I think you could predict pretty much everything right after the first part of the film. Oblivion borrows so heavily it feels like a collage of scenes from other (and better) films.

Even the music was your run-of-the-mill Zimmer noise, much to my despair.

fantastic visuals with a mediocre story.

I absolutely hated andrea riseborough's character in the movie. I know they needed a
secondary villain
but sometimes an actor can do their job too well.

I loved the visual and the soundtrack in this game. The movie would have been a classic if it had a little better story and some of the scene would be more intense and replace Tom Cruise with a decent actor.

It was nothing new but I enjoyed it, loved the scenery and design. The characters were empty outside of the Cruise performance which is a shame. Perhaps more forgiving when decent big budget Sci fi is few and far between. Oblivion filled a nice gap for me.

Can you guys give examples of better movies? I liked Oblivion more than I thought I would. I like to pretend that it's the sequel to Edge of Tomorrow.

Fantastic visual, amazing soundtrack and a decent movie.

Enjoyed every bit of it and I believe I watched it on the proper IMAX screen twice. Would watch it again.

This movie sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before!!

Movie had a great Score, Visual Design and Direction. Cruisemissle was solid in the movie as well but the script was superbly bland.

Worth seeing if you're feeling starved for sci-fi is my opinion. Though Edge of Tomorrow completely blew it away as Tom Cruise sci-fi movies go... see that if you haven't yet.

Funny thing about Oblivion - the studio cheaped out and only rendered the CG in 2k rather than 4k. Very short-sighted.

Yeah, it's amazing that they did not digitally erase the gurney on top which this pod was placed.

Ah shit, movie ruined.

So the studio was cost effective as every other studio?

This and Tron Legacy are some of my favorite sci-fi movies. I know the stories in both aren't super amazing, but these movies are just incredibly stylish. In a way they remind me of Kubrick movies in the methodical way they are shot. The composition of the shots, the design of everything, the emphasis on memorable music.

Go wash your dirty mouth. Tom Cruise is much more then a very decent actor. I suppose 3 Oscar Nominations isn't enough for you? He is a character actor. If you look at his filmography and actually know what he has done and how he did it, you would take back what you said. It's simply untrue and a shameful opinion.

Elysium that's ones a stinker

Yup, much worse than Oblivion imho. Though Oblivion wasn't that great either. The ending was pretty weak.

Only moment that lifted the movie out of total mediocrity was that bit with
Riseborough where he asks her the second time if she wants to go with him. That was really great.

I had low expectations, and they were met. It's the same as Tron Legacy. Kinda pretty but overall it's a vapid and shallow experience.

Kosinski should've stuck with architecture, and since he has no further projects lined up, seems Hollywood has wised up.

Elysium, though, it's much worse than Oblivion. Oblivion is meh, but Elysium is true crap.

Secondary villain? wtf? her actions and motivations made total sense

Loved it to bits. Kosinski is a brilliant visual director.

And that explains why. Didn't know he was into architecture prior.

Oblivion stole parts from every major scifi movie of the last fifteen years, but the end result I thought was still quite interesting, not all style but also sufficient substance. The main problem I had with the film was that the characters all seemed to be talking with knowledge of the plot. They felt more like storytelling machines than actual human beings. Not a great movie, but would recommend. In the end in what was supposed to be the greatest scifi year ever Oblivion--After Earth--Pacific Rim--Elysium--Star Trek 2, I thought it was the only one really worth watching. (I guess I had more fun with ST2, but got tired of all the references)

I really enjoyed the movie. The story was interesting, the setting was really cool, and the music created a great atmosphere. Music can really contribute a lot to how I feel about a movie.

Best Hollywood soundtrack of 2013, easily. It was a good popcorn flick and had beautiful CG effects, gorgeous art design and a breathtaking soundtrack. Oldies like "Whiter Shade of Pale" and "Ramble On" alongside the industrial/orchestral score was badass.

I remember watching it and kinda enjoying it, but not as memorable as Edge of Tomorrow.

In fact, I don't really remember too much about Oblivion, other than liking it, it was pretty, and the soundtrack was good.

Wait people didn't like Tron Legacy?

Well, it was a cool movie with a killer soundtrack, but CGI Jeff wasn't so well executed. This means that on the internet scale of 10 being perfect and 9 being barely watchable, the film was automatically categorized as a steaming pile.

I loved Tron Legacy. I also loved Oblivion.

best end credit song ever.

Made me wish Mass Effect 3 ended on a more positive note and that song played at the credits.

Morgan Freemans casting was a little iffy maybe, and the ending was a bit...I dunno underwhelming I suppose.

Otherwise, everything else that appears on screen. The movie is just constantly beautiful to look at and the soundtrack was great. I loved it over all, it didnt quite wow me with its ending but through the entire movie I was transfixed on the visuals. Can watch it over and over again.

This and Edge of Tomorrow are great films. Tom Cruise does scifi so damn well, its a pity his bit of a weirdo when it comes to scientology otherwise the past few scifi movies he has been in are brilliant.
