Nope. Nah. Not hearing it. O'Neal is one of the few comedians that has actually made me laugh to the point where I'm nearly crying. It's not the same these days I guess. I used to listen to my older brother's Richrad Pryor and Eddie Murphy cassettes. Let me say that again - cassetttes. That was tantamount to having like hardcore porn or or contraband if you were a white kid int he suburbs back then.

I'm one of those guys that loves comedy but I don't usually crack a smile or laugh at all. O'Neal was one of the funniesnt persons on the planet. It's kind of like if you are a white dude that hates church and then goes to a black church and realizes black church is awesome and white church sucks balls. Of course, I like the rendneck comedians to some degree, but O'Neal is/was godamn hillarious. Best comedian since Eddie Murphy IMO.

If you don't laugh once, you aren't a human being.

Lol, your own satisfaction means soooo much.

It wasn't alleged -- he was convicted thus his record. He talks about what happened. Hint:
He didn't do it.

That jail story was really intriguing. He's like that one friend who seen some shit and always has crazy ass stories. Funny as hell too. Gotta look at more of this dude's material.

The best of the time around his death - nobody recent was as good as him to me.

His jokes just came out so naturally that you couldn't tell what was real or made up, and you didn't care either.

One of the funniest men to walk the Earth, he will be remembered in the pantheon of the greats. Every month or two I put on Elephant in the Room.

Imo he's definitely the greatest comedian I've ever heard. Just the funniest dude with the most interesting, unique perspective on life. I downloaded all his appearances on O&A, as well as all of his Black Phillip shows, and I'm gradually going through all of them. Dude was just brought radio gold with him everytime. My favorite comedian by far. Definitely on par with Carlin or Pryor, and even funnier for me. Probably the only celebrity whose death really made me sad too, well him and Greg Giraldo too.

I have been saying it a lot recently, but I think Patrice O'Neal is definitely the best comedian of the last 10 years, and most likely the best one ever.

The only thing Carlin and Pryor have over him is amount of specials. However, O'Neal does have hundreds of hours of recorded appearances on radio which are absolutely hilarious, just not distilled.

Elephant in the Room is the only special which has made me laugh harder in subsequent viewings. I actually laughed until I cried 2 weeks ago when I watched it. I didn't think that was actually a thing.

The more comedy I listen to the more appreciation I have for him. Like Kinison, if he'd done more specials, he could have been the best comedian since Pryor/Carlin/Murphy. CK and Chappelle are the only other guys who make it look just as masterfully effortless. (Rock will go down as a great, too, but you can see the heavy lifting; he's really not an off-the-cuff guy. No slight against him, because his specials are generally flawless.)

This is bad, but I had no clue he died. I guess I must not have been on the internet that day.

He was a funny dude, and I'm actually pretty shocked right now because of his age that he went out like that.

Thanks for the post. I've seen a lot of these clips, but a lot of you have linked some great bits that I've never heard before. The first time I ever saw/heard Patrice was on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn after I finished watching the Daily Show. After seeing him on there, I was always disappointed when I'd turn the show on and see he wasn't on it. I remember spending probably half a day listening to different videos of his on Youtube. He was almost always the funniest one when he was with a group of different comics. His appearances on Opie & Anthony are my favorite videos of his on Youtube, particularly the ones with him and Louis CK.

I was a fan since I saw him do that Web Junk show on vh1, Which he turned into one of the few genuinely funny clip shows to ever appear on t.v. He possessed the rare blend of being insightful, intelligent, and being gut busting hilarious, shamed he died because he could've been one of the greats; hell in my personal opinion I'd argue he is one of the greats, and I thought that before he died.

"In white years I'm 99" Hilarious, but tragic.

"We have no shame... we have so much fun it means nothing" Such a great line lol.
