So some of you may have read my thread the other day about being LTTP for Pulp Fiction, and since it was so good, I said I'll be going through Quentin's other movies that I haven't watched. And boy oh boy, did his movie blow me away once again. I'm still in shock in how the movie ended. So without further ado, lets get going.
So, that ending right? Perhaps the best part of the film was that as soon as it had finished, I immediately thought back to the beginning of the film regarding the tipping, which by the way, was a fantastic way to open the film and a funny one at that. It did foreshadow quite a few things regarding Mr Orange being the first person to rat out Mr Pink as he never tipped, the principles behind why Mr Pink never tipped and he seemingly being the only one who escaped at the end...
...or is that so? It got me thinking, regarding this particular scene at 3:41 on wards (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c0FN8ajIlY), whether Mr Pink actually survived or not, since you can hear gun shots in the background. Either way, that's for another topic altogether.
But even then, the ending scene was even more powerful due to the fact that Mr Orange still could have been a bigger rat and never revealed he was a cop, but decided to tell Mr White the truth simply because Mr White had just killed two of his closest friends in defending him. Of course it backfired, and they were both killed at the end, but it definitely bought about a lasting impression.
Anyhow, the ending wasn't the only highlight with its fantastic acting and writing, there were a few other highlights such as the reveal of who the mole was, and how Mr Blonde was a sadistic person, and how he got put down (even if Mr Orange was a cop, I still appreciated the fact there was one less crazy person).
All in all, it was a relatively short but sweet movie, at least compared to Quentin's other films, but that is never a bad thing, because it's always about quality, and this movie surely did deliver since it has bought about a last longing impact and I will definitely be talking to my friend about it in the coming days.
So what did you guys think of the movie? Do you agree/disagree? And to also learn that this was Quentin's first independent film is even more mind blowing. And of course to follow it up with Pulp Fiction? That requires some serious talent and ideas!
Anyhow, off to Inglorious Basterds we go. Expect another LTTP next week
