LTTP: Reservoir Dogs

So some of you may have read my thread the other day about being LTTP for Pulp Fiction, and since it was so good, I said I'll be going through Quentin's other movies that I haven't watched. And boy oh boy, did his movie blow me away once again. I'm still in shock in how the movie ended. So without further ado, lets get going.

So, that ending right? Perhaps the best part of the film was that as soon as it had finished, I immediately thought back to the beginning of the film regarding the tipping, which by the way, was a fantastic way to open the film and a funny one at that. It did foreshadow quite a few things regarding Mr Orange being the first person to rat out Mr Pink as he never tipped, the principles behind why Mr Pink never tipped and he seemingly being the only one who escaped at the end...

...or is that so? It got me thinking, regarding this particular scene at 3:41 on wards (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c0FN8ajIlY), whether Mr Pink actually survived or not, since you can hear gun shots in the background. Either way, that's for another topic altogether.

But even then, the ending scene was even more powerful due to the fact that Mr Orange still could have been a bigger rat and never revealed he was a cop, but decided to tell Mr White the truth simply because Mr White had just killed two of his closest friends in defending him. Of course it backfired, and they were both killed at the end, but it definitely bought about a lasting impression.

Anyhow, the ending wasn't the only highlight with its fantastic acting and writing, there were a few other highlights such as the reveal of who the mole was, and how Mr Blonde was a sadistic person, and how he got put down (even if Mr Orange was a cop, I still appreciated the fact there was one less crazy person).

All in all, it was a relatively short but sweet movie, at least compared to Quentin's other films, but that is never a bad thing, because it's always about quality, and this movie surely did deliver since it has bought about a last longing impact and I will definitely be talking to my friend about it in the coming days.

So what did you guys think of the movie? Do you agree/disagree? And to also learn that this was Quentin's first independent film is even more mind blowing. And of course to follow it up with Pulp Fiction? That requires some serious talent and ideas!

Anyhow, off to Inglorious Basterds we go. Expect another LTTP next week ;)

It was only on my last rewatch did I realize that one of the cops at the end that shoots Mr. White is the same cop (with the mustache and the dog) from Mr. Orange's bathroom story.

"DROP THE FUCKING GUN BUDDY!"

Like it better than Pulp Fiction. This movie is so good. Just amazing.

Tarantino Top 5:
1. Django (Django and the Dr)
2. Resevoir Dogs (The Dogs)
3. Kill Bill (The Society)
4. Pulp Fiction (A different group in each thread)
5. Inglorious Basterds (The Basterds)

Basterds though my least favorite of his films, I think had the best 2nd half of any of his movies, and such good characters. Django was just a masterpiece all together with everything working out perfectly. Kill Bill was good too. The action was super fast fun and zany making anyone stare at the screen with excitement. Pulp Fiction is brilliant because of how everything ties together and how it all comes together at the end.

Tarantino is simply top of class and the best Director around.

Also, gotta think about this. All of his movies have been around a group of people. It's so interesting the way this man forms a story.

Recently saw Django and IB. Really liked both, though I'd give Django the edge.

RD is on my list to watch.

I saw Pulp when it first came out and frankly didn't like it. I need to re-watch it though.

Never saw Kill Bill.

How come? It seemed to have been critically well received? Should I keep my expectations in check or something?

People have wildly varying opinions of all things, including movies. The movie was well-received and most of the people I know like. You'll have a good time.

I wonder if anyone has done Reservoir Dogs as a play. It basically has the same structure.

Love the little detail that the warehouse is full of coffins.

also OP, as much as I love Inglorious Basterds I think you should watch his films in order. the Kill Bill movies, for me at least, represent a stylistic shift for Tarantino's films and Basterds is on the other side of that shift. it'll give you some context for the way his movies were going.

This is tarintinos best film sadly u can only watch it once though. The second time u watch it it gets kind of boring. That's torture scene is still one of the best scenes in vining though.

Sure thing. and thanks for the advise! Just curious though, what is the shift in tone? From what to what?

I was going say do we just need a LTTP Quentin Tarantino thread? But then I realized your the same guy that hadn't seen pulp fiction.

Love this movie. The ending chilled me to the bone when I first watched it. Wish I could rewatch it for the first time again.

Quentin movies also have some of the best soundtracks in any movie ever.

Well I don't know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain't right,
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you
Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you,
And I'm wondering what it is I should do,
It's so hard to keep this smile from my face,
Losing control, yeah, I'm all over the place,
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you
Well you started out with nothing,
And you're proud that you're a self made man,
And your friends, they all come crawlin,
Slap you on the back and say,
Please, please
