LTTP: Silent Hill 4 The Room

Loves his juicy stink trail scent
Just got this on gog a few weeks ago and installed it on steam deck via heroic games launcher.

I got it running at 4k natively but idk if that's worth doing? I mean it seems to be running 60fps on deck at max resolution and adding the shadows options on.

It controls weird. Like I'm trying to look around the room with right stick and it's randomly looking down? I checked my deck sticks in case something is wrong on a different title and no issue.

So far the atmosphere is top notch and still spooky even for a ps2 game. I think it looks good, and sounds even better. Main character is a stud.

I loved SH2 R so I figured I'd play this until SH1 remake.

What's your overall thoughts on this title?

That's weird. I tried to install it last week and couldn't get it running on my Deck.
0 issues.

Go to desktop mode. Use discover. Download heroic launcher. Log into gog. Click install. Click play.

Ezpz.

Still my favourite Silent Hill game till date. One of the most disturbing ones as well, but I can also see why many disliked it. But I loved it when it released and still love it now.

I liked the first part of it but the backtracking killed it for me. I realized the whole dire and dread situation is from having enemies like those floating ghosts that are almost unkillable so it keeps you on edge. But once that first fascination wore off, yeah SH4 is kinda shit.

It's personally my second favorite in the series after 2. It's the scariest by far, and it has the second best story after 2.

Unfortunately, it also has some extremely frustrating gameplay mechanics. If you can get past that, god tier SH.

I tried beating it last year and got 3/4 of the way through hoping it would turn around then found out the rest is actually the worst since it just repeats previous sections.... It's just so much weaker than the other silent hills (and they have their own problems). The only thing good is the Room section and that isnt enough to make up for all the mid sections :/. I just felt mostly nothing but I did like some of the monster designs like the wall enemies and that one prison lighthouse area. At this point I only recommend SH 1-3. Although I plan to give SH2 Remake, SH Shattered Memories and SH f a playthrough someday since they are supposed to be good.
