I just wrapped ZoE2 last night. I think overall it took me 5 hours.

It's strange but this game resonated with me even though it's very much an aged product. Cheap, cringe, poor voice acted dialogue. A whatever story line. Simplistic and repetitive gameplay.

But something about it all just feeeels so good in hand. I enjoyed Dingo, I enjoyed the use of anime cut scenes, the soundtrack is great, and just like MGS2 the art direction here really holds up visually.

We will never get a ZoE3 which after enjoying AC6 the other year made my head spin with what this IP could do nowadays. It would be something else.

I'd say this is an 8/10 similar to Onimusha 1&2, where it's a short focused ride that we just don't get today. Not from visionary developers and AA and indie just don't seem to know how to nail "this" whatever this is. I think a game like Wanted Dead is the closest in recent years that understands whatever this formula of game is supposed to be.

Anyone else play this on release or the HD version like I did as of late?

Still have to play those. By the way, I always heard people praising ZoE2 but never heard anything about the first game. What's up with that?

The first game I played on release but I cannot comment. I only recall the main character being an annoying whiny fuck boy.

I think I saw mention that the gameplay on 1 is very bad and a shit camera.

Likely can just YT recap it. It's why it doesn't have a HD remaster I believe. People only care about the second. Dingo is an edgy character and the anime cut scenes feel sort of xenogears in approach.

Really enjoyed ZOE2.
Played it again (hd remaster) and it aged like wine.
Such a shame we never got ZOE3.
Did Kojima have it in the works? Konami just wanted more MGS and nothing else. I'm surprised they even let him mess with PT before they cut all ties.

Idk that ZoE3 was more than a concept for him or a "maybe someday".

The original game was extremely short, there was nothing to talk about other than being a fun mech game. I personally thought it was a demo of sorts. The protagonist of the first game appears in the sequel but in a different mech. ZoE2 was a clear step up in almost everything.
