"Cool" doesn't fit here. PC is and will always be the superior no matter how much deluded and in denial people wanna live. Bless her little heart though, I'm looking forward to having my own kids and get amused by all these conversations.

Although I mostly use PC, i prefer Console since beginning. but sadly, because of my works, I cannot sit my ass too long in TV anymore for now.

You tell me?

Consoles are clearly cooler, because once the GPU and CPU utilization hits high numbers, the fan exhaust can get pretty warm on my PC!

PS5 and XSX barely do anything by comparison. So yes, they are clearly cooler! 😉

Consoles and it isn't even close. Not saying consoles are better. Just saying from a pr perspective, it's a lot more socially acceptable to say you enjoy Playstation or Nintendo than PC.

Nah, not for the new generation. Most kids 12+ would say PC over console at least where im from and my Kids / friends.

If we are talking about how it was seen socially and by society? It used to be consoles and PC used to be for nerds. That has changed in the past decade or so. Building your own PC, streaming online, chatting with your friends on Discord. These things seem to resonate more with a lot of people these days.

Tech wise, it depends. Aesthetically also depends, and functionally well... it depends. I'd take PS1 or 2 back in the day as cooler in perhaps every way. But today's consoles are nothing like that, build quality is shit tier, way worse. Games are 99%+ also on PC where they can be enjoyed in much more expanded and different way. The PS5 Slim Digital I had for a while had coil whine and loud cooler on top, and for a console that's not what a sane man expects, on PC problems like these are solvable much easier, like I don't have to sell the whole PC lol!

But yea, it depends, largely so.

I like console for the physical games or even (key cards). It feels like owning equity.. better investment imo than digital license with no resell value

Both have its pros and cons. I mainly PC because I like to do other things with PC besides gaming. If I'm on the couch and want to absolutely immerse in gaming, its the console.

Being "cooler" is absolutely dumb.

Consoles I guess.

But that's solely because of branding. PC by itself doesn't really have any identity to me and can vary from anything from trash to the pinnacle of engineering.

I have a work PC, it's not very cool and I'd definitely consider a Ps5 to be cooler.

PS5 is way cooler I gotta admit. My PC's CPU and GPU heat up to 80°C and in summer it's getting real warm in the room. Fan noise is also a factor.

PS5 on the other hand, whisper quiet, even in demanding games. Even in a silent room I can't hear it. Only thing I notice that it's on is the LED and when the disc drive boots up. Kudos to the thermal designers.

It depends on how much you spend on a PC, a console obviously can't compete because of price, since the hardware of a console hits a more average cost.

But the main reason PlayStation is more played and more popular than PC gaming is that, even though consoles also need game installs, they're still way more "plug n play" than PC for the average gamer, which, funny enough, is mostly Windows' fault.

So if you're a chill player who doesn't have the patience for all the extra stuff, a console like the PS5 is the people's choice for something more "cool." But if you wanna spend more and get higher hardware potential and more settings, then it's PC.

Words from someone who plays on both.

kind of depends on the audience - to the world at large - consoles - to those of us who have built our own rig and den, with all the lights and shit - PC obvs.

Mind you - there's a guy at work who has built his own media server and that's the most tragic thing I can think of - just get Apple Music and Netflix/Disney ffs.

There are a multitude of reasons why PC's are more expensive and cooler. Some of the builds I saw were absolutely ridiculous in an awesome way.

Yeah. Imagine voting consoles after seeing something like this lmao.

When you finally are able to play the entire back catalog of a console and install any and all fan created content ever made, console will reach parity with PC.

It's not even a fair contest.

When I sit in front of my console it's potato couch time, with four buttons and limited options.

When I sit on my fancy armchair, in front of my PC, I feel fucking Captain Kirk in charge of the Enterprise and the possibilities are endless.

I'm sitting here having a convo with my 7 year old, and she tells me my PS5 Pro is "cooler" than my PC. I asked her why, and she replied with "it just is." So yes, a very in-depth, deep conversation.

Had me thinking though- what is the "cooler" choice?

Personally, console is "cooler" in my books. Too many fond memories of new games on Christmas day (even today), playing with friends growing up, and old school gaming magazines I would pickup locally to read that included demo disks. PC still to me is a work appliance that plays games (yes, I work on a laptop everyday).
How's it feel to get OWNED by a 7 year old

Consoles were more for the popular dude-bro kids, who i didn't think were cool. The stoners/nerds were the cool people in my book and they had PCs. Also pirates are cool, so cool that they burnt CDs for the PS1 dudes.

I like the wars on consoles but the PC is the land of peace.

Depends on what I am playing. I playing everything but RTS on console.

I agree. I don't care actually who sells the most consoles I Just wanna trade barbs and verbal jabs with cocky PS owners who think that because Sony is winning they are somehow winning at life. It's just so…… satisfying.

But yeah. PC master race rules. We are like the Borg in Star Trek sooner or later they will all be assimilated into us.

However…… we can still have PC on PC fighting. I like ASUS stuff so if you like MSI or gigabyte we can go a few rounds right now. we can always have a PC-Fight over who is better.

Cool? Console

For context I've played on both console and PC since the late 90s. I grew up as a little kid playing stuff like Janes flight simulators, Unreal Tournament and the like on PC, while also enjoying stuff like RE, SH, MGS, GT on PS1 (PS1 was my first console). Growing up PC was the opposite of cool to play games on and it was niche. Nobody I knew played on PC and the PS1 and N64 were the cool things to play games on. Then it was the PS2 and Xbox, and then the Xbox 360, and then the PS4.

I know the PC landscape was different in the UK and Europe but it definitely wasn't cool where I grew up. PC was for old people and nerds.

Then we enter the new renaissance of PC gaming or the "Twitch Age" where streaming has helped PC get really big and now it's the cool "it" thing with younger people which IMO makes it the opposite of cool still. It's just simply the "it" thing and while PC has undeniable benefits a lot of people really are just following the crowd and if consoles were the current thing they would 100% play on consoles.

Also a good amount of PC exclusives are just so "uncool" to me it's almost funny. Even as somebody growing up playing flight sims and RTS games I'm not playing these gay ass fucking factory simulators. I play on PC pretty equally versus console but the vast majority of these PC exclusives are so uninteresting to me.

Also literally nothing is less cool then fucking MOBAs and the fat greasy discord mod fanbase that plays them.

I like the wars on consoles but the PC is the land of peace.

Land of peace? Then why do the PCMR "warriors" always feel the need to call everybody that prefers consoles a retard or put them down in some way shape or form even though nobody asked?

Polling this to high schoolers would crush Gen-X console GAF. They've been buying up stake in optical disc replication companies. Knowing the price will never be cheaper and an unbreakable golden age of physical media is around the corner. Consoles are just as cool as they were when people brought their Tony Hawk Pro Skater PSX black label jewel cases to school. Once these kids today find out how much they're getting ripped off by not owning the disc version of Avowed, they're gonna come running back to both consoles and optical media in general.

I personally prefer PCs but I do think that consoles are cooler than most Pre-built PCs, but if the pc is custom, then that will always be cooler because of the customization and especially if its a custom loop, those are sick

I don't understand the question. If we're talking about looks then there's about a million different PC cases out there. Gamer bling always looks like trash (most consoles included) but it's not like you can't build a PC into your coffee table if you want to.

>posts gaudy ass coffee table pc that is ugly as sin

Nothing will ever be as gaudy as the pc cases that got popular when I was a kid. People were essentially building in see through acrylic boxes with haphazard LEDs inside of it. RGB may be fucking ugly now but it was worse then although much more niche.
