Lumines + Sleep

There may actually be no way around this, but I'd really like to know one way or another. Basically, I am unable to properly use sleep mode with Lumines. If I put my PSP to sleep DURING a game of Lumines and come back later, it will simply refuse to save. Upon finishing the round, you are asked whether or not you'd like to load previous data (which I never do). I initially thought that this was the only bug, but what I've found is that, even if you do not load the data, it will not save. If I check out the high scores, for example, my current data will be there. However, returning to the OS and restarting the game will result in any current data failing to appear.

Is there any trick to this that would allow me to use sleep mode while also forcing the game to save any recent data? This was not originally a problem, but now that my scores have increased so much, a game of Lumines can take hours.

Dunno. I did the sleep mode probably dozens of times with JP version of Lumines and it always worked fine and saved high scores and progress (I never loaded the save state, then I saved the game, on Japanese unit with a japanese game that was X button, then O) Or you can cancel both requests, then finish the game and go to options menu and save manually.

Not sure if it works with US version, I don't have it with me to try and be 100% sure.

Btw, I thought this thread would be about the tetris effect of seeing falling blocks, and 'playing' the game when you close your eyes, which happens with Lumines too :P

In the Japanese version, when you end a game after coming out of sleep mode it asks you:
1. Would you like to load the old save data from your memory card.
(select NO!)
2. Would you like to save the data currently in memory to your memory card.
(select YES)

Are you saying you don't have a step 2?!?
That's messed up. Maybe you have found a weird bug.

That happens to me all the time...

I have to force myself to stop playing for a few days occasionally in order to stop seeing Lumines blocks...

I think I see my error. I was not loading (as I should have) but also not saving (the second question). I could not figure out any way to manually save, however (there did not appear to be any option in the menus).

Are you saying you don't have a step 2?!?

Yeah, step 2 is there. I suppose I cancelled that one as well and found no other way to manually save if you miss that prompt.

Go fudge around with the character settings. That saves things, and I think will save your high scores. I'm pretty sure I did that once. But if you sleep/wake during the middle of a game its just cancel, confirm, I've done that plenty of times.

Yeah I have to say no, then yes...and then it works. If I say yes first, it doesnt save.

Yeah, that's what I did, and it saves everything. That was of course before I figured out I should just answer yes to the 2nd question.
