Mac Word help please?

I'm trying to set up a document

like a poetry book

I want each new poem to start on the top of a new page but I am having a hard time getting them to align the the top of the page.

I hit return to move the line down and by the time it gets to the page I want it on it skips half way down that page

I hit delete to get move the line back up the page and it jumps back one page to the end of the last poem

How do I get this to work the way I want the document set up?

It is very frustrating, I must be doing something wrong because this software can't be this crappy

Word Mac v.X

Wish I could help you out but I have version 11.1. Office X WAS unfortunately buggy and crappy to a great extent :(

I'm not quite sure what your problem is, but I have some guesses.

It sounds like you need to insert either a page break or, more likely, a section break between each poem. It's easier to do this if you use one of the other views (it sounds like you're working in Page Layout mode--I think it's Normal View that you want).

okay thanks

someone at Macnn told me to insert>page breaks because all the returns and deletes can get messy - that was simple enough I wish I knew how to use word never used it for anything other than opening stuff people send me

I have also been reading about the Office X bugs damn need to upgrade

Is page layout mode when you see two pages side by side?
I'm not really sure how I got it like that I clicked something by mistake and just liked it viewing it like that.

I suck at this should have paid more attention to Word long ago

Page Layout is just when Word replicates the image of a page onscreen, with borders, headers, and footers. I never display two pages at once, so I don't remember offhand how you turn that on or off.

In Normal mode, you don't get all the graphical what-you-see-is-what-you-get enhancements, but it's much easier to format the text.

And, yeah, I've learned to hate Word v.X.

sorry I was reading the macnn boards they don't have a list of the bugs compiled
just reading from many different threads that I should update to a new version
