Macaulay Culkin on drug charges

Culkin was one of the highest paid child actors of all time
Former child star Macaulay Culkin has been arrested in the US on drug possession charges.

The 24-year-old actor was jailed on charges of possessing marijuana and a dangerous controlled substance without a prescription, police said.

He and another man were arrested after the car they were travelling in was pulled over in Oklahoma City on Friday.

Culkin, best known for his role in the film Home Alone, was later released after paying a $4,000 (£2,230) bond.

Speeding

A report from Oklahoma County Sheriff's office said authorities confiscated about 17 grams of marijuana from a vehicle in which Culkin was a passenger.

Officers also found 16 milligrams of prescription medications used to control anxiety and seizures, it said.

Their vehicle had been stopped by officers for driving at 70 mph in a 60 mph speed zone and for making an improper lane change.

Captain Jeffrey Becker of the Oklahoma City Police Department said in a statement that police officers, who were given permission to search the car, found marijuana and $3,000 (£1,675) cash in a bag that Culkin said belonged to him.

State charges

Culkin was also allegedly carrying pills, later identified as Xanex and Clonzebam, in his pocket, and admitted that he did not have a prescription for them, the statement added.

"Culkin was transported to the Oklahoma County Jail and booked on the state charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana, and a municipal charge of possession of marijuana," it said.

Both men were later released. Culkin's publicist, Michelle Bega, declined to comment.

Culkin was one of the highest paid child actors of all time when he starred in two Home Alone films in 1990 and 1992.

I find it really sad how most children stars have ended up.

"Edward Furlong got unlucky in Kentucky this week.

A rowdy run-in with some supermarket crustaceans landed the Terminator 2 star behind bars Wednesday night, according to a police report posted on TheSmokingGun.com.

On location in Florence, Kentucky, to shoot the film Jimmy & Judy, Furlong apparently made his way to the local Meijer grocery store at around 11 p.m. with several friends.

Inside the supermarket, the actor and his buddies began yanking live lobsters out of the store's display tank for reasons that were not made clear. "

over marijuana and xanex? cmon, if he was giving handjobs for coke, i'd agree.. but xanex and marijuana does not earn this type of statement.

He's probably dealing with a lot of mental shit after all the crap MJ did to him as a kid.

He actually looks like he could become a child molester.

Now WTF was he doing in Oklahoma? PEACE.

Probably the obvious: driving to California. Oklahoma's central location means a lot of through-traffic. Which means a shitload (too many) cops who'll pull you over for even 5 over the speed limit. And if you've got out-of-state plates, you'll be searched.

If you're going to be driving through OK with any controlled substance, put the cruise control 1 mph under the speed limit.

A huge star like Corey Feldman doesn't have to worry about getting molested.

whatever happened to the girl that did matilda, if i recall she's still about the same size *fap fap fap*

supposedly she stopped making movies after 2000. So her career highlights are Matilda, Miracle on 34th street, and mrs. doubtfire. Today meanwhile she's right about 17 years old

He looks like Steve Buscemi.

only not nearly as cool. Steve Buscemi rocks!

Indeed. No one plays a pathetic supporting character like Buscemi.

His looks are getting pretty haggard, a lot like one of his celebrity counterparts, Michael Jackson.

My one friend had one of those old DISNEY ADVENTURES magazines modeled for younger kids. It had an interview with Macaulay from like 1991 and he was like I LOVE HANGING OUT WITH MICHAEL JACKSON HE'S SO MUCH FUN.

LOL random though on Macaulay.

Macaulay Culkin isn't really washed up, unfortunately. He's been doing a lot of indie-ish movies lately, most notably Party Monster. Which had Wilmer Valderrama, Fes from That 70's Show, in it. Probably how the dirty bastard met Mila Kunis. >O

Party Monster is a spiffy movie. . .but not because of Culkin. His acting is pretty middling -- maybe even poor. He simply doesn't know how the extraordinary character he was portraying would act. Seth Green though, he steals the movie. Hard to believe I'm saying this, but Seth Green's got some serious chops. He just needs to get away from the whole shitty comedy stuff.

Culkin was better in Saved. . .that movie was heavily flawed for other reasons, namely a flawed, manipulative, "too perfect" final act that bears little or no resemblance to how certain situations would play out in reality. It's a shame, because it starts off pretty well, and it could've been genuine in the hands of a more gifted writer or director.

Party Monster is entertaining, but it has a lot of problems. Despite so many characters in it being homosexual or bisexual, it completely avoids showing anything. The cliche fireworks going off during the scene in the dumpster had me rolling my eyes.

Culkin's performance is rather "meh", because he isn't able to pull off the full character of Michael Alig.

The stereotypical "gay accent" (sorry, I don't know how to better describe this) is not pulled off very well by Culkin. However, I will say it's at its low point in the beginning of the film... he does get better as it goes on.

The other thing he is severely lacking in is the charm that Alig supposedly has. There are scenes in the movie where I'm just like "Why would anyone agree to this?" He doesn't have the power to win anyone over... and based on the things I've read and seen about Alig, it just doesn't work in the film.

What he seemed to have completely down was Alig's completely superficial mindset. So it wasn't a total loss, but I think the charm aspect was the most important... Culkin just fails with it.

It's not a bad movie though. Seth Green definitely does carry it. I was very surprised by his work in this movie. I would like to see him move on from his general output. I kind of liked Christina too... she added some humor to an otherwise mostly depressing movie.

Edit - I was also happy with the costume designs. It's interesting watching this movie and then finding video and pictures of the real people looking just like that.

I was talking about his face. He looks like an even more drugged up Mike Patton who's been runover by a bicycle.

I just saw him on Larry King...I dunno if it was pre-recorded or anything. There wasn't any mention of this during the portions I saw.

Was doing a bit of browsing on IMDB, looking at people related to Macaulay Culkin. Rachel Miner, his wife, was Lisa Connelly (Marty's girlfriend) in Bully. Kieran Culkin, who I loved in Igby Goes Down, isn't listed as doing anything since then (2002), which is a shame.
