Madden 360 info from EGM (No more Madden commentary!?)

I'm scanning through it now and hear this. Madden and Al Michaels will no the commentators for the 360 version. They say the no name announcer not announcers will call the game like he works for the teams local radio station. Saying he'll sound more emotional when you make a great play. But the ask madden feature is still in the game.

They also have a small section saying "why next gen madden ain't all that." It will not have owner or superstar mode. No classic teams and no create a player.

Some other stuff while scanning through. If you have surround sound you can hear a defender's footsteps and his heavy breathing behind you. I'll post more later when i get home as i'm getting ready to leave work.

So the game will have Franchise mode, but no owner mode? Damn. :( I NEED TO PRICE MY POPCORN!

More added

There is a part talkin about the stadiums how they even have the sun worn seats that have faded due to the sun being on them all the time. The staduims mow lines will be correct. Pittsburgh's grass degrades faster than other staduims.

They talk about the sidelines how the players and coaches react on a big play when you run down your sideline and they start jumping up and down. There are about 4,000 animations in this version which is about double what we get on current gen. Each team will have 2 or 3 players with specific animations. Ball spikes you see ya lineman rushing to the line. Recievers crying for pass interference calls and you can finally jump over the pile.

Ea went to NASA for weather data so now we should get exact shadows and where they fall in the staduim and there should be no excuse why the shadows are wrong. The parts of the field that get the most work will degrade more then the rest.

They now have access to the nfl films vault so players now sound like themselves. Peyton sounds like Peyton when he calls out audibles. Ray Lewis sounds lime himself calling out defensive checks. Does say how many players voices will make the cut though. Blocking should sound like real blocking now and tackles sounds like tackles.

200 key players heads were scanned. There will be about 200 accessories for players but no hand warmer pouches. EA says "next year"

i honestly believe EA is holding out its true next-gen Madden game for the PS3 launch in the States. looking at video's of the x360 Madden, it just looks like crap (compared to other x360 games). the animations are terrible and jerky... the graphics aren't too impressive and now we learn they don't even have Madden in it and missing bigtime features.

i sure hope i end up wrong though. :(

Please tell me where you saw these videos of the final version of Madden spankey :lol

And damnit,I want scans, why couldn't someone from OA have the mag :lol

Not a huge deal, but WTF? Owner mode was all fluff. Cool fluff IMO, but fluff. How difficult would it be to port the exact same, extraneous shit over to the 360? Cutting stuff like this makes no sense b/c it's got to be the most basic shit in the world to add in. Goddammit, EA. Why did the NFL have to assrape us like this? Let some competition live in the football market. Force EA to man up this year. :(

Also, the lack of Madden and Summerall zombie tag team might be a good thing. But while I don't mind losing Summerall, I still enjoy hearing Madden as the color guy. Some nonames just don't do it for me. But hey, as long as the commentary is good, it could be Pauly Shore on the mic. :lol PEACE.

yeah but they have to have something new to add to next years iteration to keep it exciting and fresh. so they cut all that stuff out of this years :D
and BTW if it helps it look better by launch get rid of it i dont care

I dunno which I'd prefer, I got kinda sick of Madden, but I think it'd be funny to be on the receiving end of a hostile announcer during an away game.

:lol I was going to let that slide.

I will believe these reports when I see them. Seems very un-EA like to put out a bare-bones version of the game for the 360.

And this my friends,is a fine example on WHY NOT to trust GAF's opinion on Madden :lol

That and Dante Hall being a defensive player...lmfao.

Does anyone else LOVE the fact that they're using radio announcers? I love listening to radio boradcasts cause there's much more emotion and it pumps you up much more during big plays. ESPN always does they're radio highlight segment and it's great. All that and no more Madden, thank God.

But if they did? What is EA trying to tell us? Are they telling us anything at all or is it just that they're lazy?

Whats that boy?...wait...wait for.....play?....playstation?...... wait for playstation 3!

Actually I'd probably buy Madden for the first time since the Genesis if Merrill Reese was announcing the Eagles games. d0 it for me, ea!

I tend to agree with you here... but just replacing them with no names doesn't solve the general crappiness of play-by-play in games... If there are multiple announcers (depending on which team is playing) then they have to record that much more audio... if there is only one single set of 'local' announcers, that's gonna be just as repetitive as Madden 2006,5,4,3,2,1... etc

What if the Easter Bunny was real? I will believe in him too when I see him. I am saying, you can't take a message board post as the truth. The local radio announcers was talked about before, I am inclined to believe that. But I can't see the game coming out without Franchise mode.

I'm pretty sure the first launch of any sports game on a new system is not going to have EVERY feature from the latest version of last gen.

Shit. Did Al Michaels replace Summerall on the PS2 games? I played 01-03 and then 05. I honestly didn't notice the difference. :lol For a play-by-play guy, Michaels sounds as zombiefied as Summerall ever did. Hell, whoever is on the play-by-play, he fucking blows. Madden's simplistic chimes work just fine for me. I can't listen to some other color guy. PEACE.

P.S. Am I the only person who didn't notice the change from Summerall to whatever jackass is calling the game with Madden now?

They're taking it all out not so they re-release each of this generations "innovations" to us onr by one and claim that is "NEW!"
:lol

Boooourrrrnnns

no problems here ladies! i want gameplay not fluff! i only play online as it is and as long as the gameplay is intact (qb vision and so on) this will be awesome.

There was a nice piece on Summerall on ESPN a couple a months ago. He was near death and needed a liver(I think) transplant. He received it just in the nick of time from a black kid(who died)....and the piece was on him and his wife meeting the family. It was really touching :)

Thats how I feel,I could care less about owner mode/create a player and Madden repeating the same tired commentary.

I agree, since they introduced owner mode I think I've made adjusments like twice (and only to rape my fans with overpriced beer). I love paying the game, and love nothing more than to skip all the crap in between my franchise games.

Same shit they did with Madden 2001 for PS2.

For the record, I think Al Michaels is a great announcer. He's not as good in the Madden games as on TV, but I still like that he's there.

Owner mode only really comes into its own once a season, during the off-season. It's a neat thing IMO, b/c I like the ability to move your franchise. It makes the game more like NCAA's Dynasty Mode, where you could make your own team and city and uniforms and everything. I moved the Dolphins to Mexico City and raped the fans for all they were worth. :D Cash cow, get! PEACE.

Why would you move my beloved Fins? For shame Pimp, I thought you loved this city :P

BTW, I need to get a copy of the new EGM for Madden 360 info!!!!

I dig 90% of the info, but I also wonder about create a player. I wonder if he meant create a fan, a true garbage addition.

Then again, if EA would get their rosters right, create a player wouldn't make as big of a difference.

Exactly, I'm surprised more people don't catch on to EA's BS. I especially love when they add a feature back in the next year but it's buggy so it takes another year to get it back to the way it worked 3 years prior. :( ie> custom cam 2003-2005

They did the same thing with NBA Live 360 last month. A bunch of new info, but the pics were the same old Sonics/Pistons pictures. EGM sucks at media :lol

Oh wow....way to go! No excuses if we get shitty PS2 animations......None. They're doing all this fluff shit, they'd better actually bring the next-gen animations and gameplay.
