If Christopher Reeves was selfish for wanting to find a cure for his affliction, what is Maddox for doing nothing other than be an egocentric asshole? Yeah, searching for a cure for a disability he had wasn't exactly something to cannonize him over, but at least Reeves did something, and I'm sure it's a lot more than most people would do in the same situation. I mean, do you call someone selfish because he buys lunch for himself because he is hungry, but not for the dozens of other starving people on the planet? I guess you could, but under a microscope that close, I doubt that almost anyone would be shown to be truely selfless.

I don't generally have a problem with Maddox, it's just that hypocrisy is one of the things that tend to piss me off.

Seriously though, I think he just changed the title to say "was" and that's it. I thought the article was a bit harsh, but still funny and very much true. Reeve didn't do a whole lot before the accident. The sympathy he receives is b/c pretty much anyone without a heart of ice loves Superman in some way, and hated the fact that the man who played Superman is now suddenly disabled. If he had died, I don't think it would have been such a big deal, but he was still alive, but now the antithesis of Superman. I don't think anyone would have paid him any mind otherwise. He tried to move heaven and earth once he had the accident, but that's not exactly worthy of the praise he's been getting. I'd like to think that I do a lot of things to help myself, but receive no accolades for "triumphing" over my problems. Meh. Sucks what happened to him though. PEACE.

What I hate about the site is that I agree with most of what he's saying. My friend linked me to the site and he laughs his ass off. It's kind of, but not roffle waffles.

I can't say I like Maddox all that much but that headline change is hilarious.

I have nothing against Reeve but it seemed at times that by being paralyzed he managed to make himself into a saint. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll never have to hear about him again.

If you redirect the hate he has for reeves on that site, to the people that glorify and take this kind of shit...

then he has a very valid point.

True reeves spent alot of time doing good towards the end of his life, but it was mainly a byproduct of his own drive to get himself up and running again.

But do we glorify the people that really deserve this kind of praise?

I guess the last person that died with this kind of iconic spirit of giving was Mother Theresa. She was but a relative foot note in history compared to Diana that died only a couple months earlier.
