Madlib or Dangermouse?

I was wondering who most GAFers preferred when it comes to production.

I've always been a bigger Madlib fan, personally. Both musicians can sample really well but I find that madlib's songs often sound more organic and seem to be homages to hip hop and soul whereas Dangermouse is just a juxtaposition of pop culture references. They're both great producers but I just tend to prefer Madlib on the whole.

I thought this was about the Danger Mouse cartoon. I really like it. I haven't heard of the band so I can't comment on it.

definitely madlib. his 'shades of blue' album is really good. dangermouse has some good collaborations but i dont know, i dont think he has staying power

All I've heard from Dangermouse is hip-hop beats, really. And I won't say that he's bad at it.

But against Madlib? Yesterday's New Quintet (esp. the Sound Directions release)? DJ Rels? Shades of Blue (and Young Warrior off of Blue Note Remixed)? Madvillian? Quasimoto? Lootpack? Madlib's clearly superior here.

I'd have to go with the Mouse. Those books just aren't that fun anymore.

Oh wait. This is about supposed "music?" Never mind.

Demon Days had some less hip-hopish production on it.

J/K GAFFERS!

Madlib cause hes the shit. And Madvillainy is always dope. Dangermouse? Like him, but Madlib is more versatile with his poetic waxabilities. What he does with his jazz throbacks is dobe, Yesterday's New Quintet is dope. The album with Jaydilla is dope. Just please stick to production/tablin though. God as soon as Lord Quas hits the set its over! MY EARS!

Madlib is a mad genius. Dangermouse is talented.

I prefer Madlib because he's exploring. He goes abstract. He crate dives Bollywood soundtracks. He filters hip-hop through the lens of jazz. He's challenging and at the same time can make a track that bumps a dancefloor like nobody's business.

:lol :lol

I agree with what most everyone has said. Dangermouse has yet to come out with an album that really shines for me besides maybe his DangerDoom collab. He really didn't do a great job on Demon Days IMO especially compared to what The Automator did on the Gorillaz first album.

Dangermouse is exploring, which is good, but he's yet to come up with a signature style yet IMO. When I think of 'dangermouse' I can't think of a certain feeling or atmosphere.
