Mafia: The Old Country Details - 'Don't Compare with GTA VI', Structurally Similar to Mafia 1/2, Rural Environment, Open World, Engine Reboot,

Sounds all good.
Had a feeling it was Unreal Engine from that trailer.
Not too worried about the "open world" cuz Mafia 1 and 2 were brilliant.

I just hope we dont get another Fair Play mission cuz that shit gave me PTSD, I didnt even bother with the remakes cuz I was worried i was gonna have to do that shit again.

Title says open world, OP says not open world... so what is it?
Game has open map with town and and surroundings, but has linear mission structure and no hundred sidequests.
It is an open world but not Ubisoft open world.
It is a Mafia game.
Clear now?

That's great to hear. I am sick of bloated open-world games. I was a little concerned about that happening here, because with Mafia III, the series seemed to be taking on extra weight. I much prefer a tight, linear game with minimal side content, similar to the first two. Glad to hear they're returning to that design philosophy.

If anyone wants to try Mafia III definitive edition, it's on sale on PSN for $7. I know it's the worst of the three, but I haven't played it yet, so I picked it up.

It's one of those rare games I bought digitally at full price back when it launched, played a lot on the old PS4 Pro, but haven't played it since it released.

Would love to give it a go again, but very disappointed that they haven't even considered a 60fps update.

Duh, I'd never compare Mafia games with GTA. They do their own thing and are fairly different.

It's a bit disappointing that they're moving to Unreal Engine 5. Their engine with Mafia 3 and DE wasn't that bad, especially the latter.
I hope we can still free roam around in one way or another, perhaps in a separate 'Free Ride' mode like Mafia 1/2 (DLCs only).
