the pictures of the characters under the big metalic dome area remind me of the art in the old phantasy stars... especially PS 2.

i hope the single player mode is awesome enough to justify a purchase by itself... phantasy star is probably my alltime favorite RPG series. also, big props to sega... if the graphics in this game are any indication, maybe they're getting their act together again. i'm also encouraged by spartan total warrior. i know it's not actually developed by sega, but the first few shots look great.

also judging from the pics i would say those hoping for a turn based battle system are screwed, but maybe it will be a good battle system anyway...

from what i see from PSO so far and the reaction around it, that is one of the few game that could sell close to 4M in japan. And that is even more incredible as it's a sega game. It now only need a 39/40 in famitsu and a no cheater gameplay.

Negatives:

- They've replaced mags with robot buddies (not that we've seen them yet, they could be good, but I liked mags).
- The offline mode seems to play like online only without the communication aspect, which...isn't great, unless the gameplay is vastly improved.
- No Xbox/Xbox 360/GC versions, at least for now.

Not huge negatives (well, the second one is for some), but there are some out there.
