hey guys, I haven't played in about 4 months. I found out that there is a Sealed GP literally across the street from me. What's the format like?

tcgplayer blocked at work atm. How much would you sell them for? I would take two of these. Or what are you looking to trade for?

Any of yall play with special rulings when it comes to team games? Last night, we were playing 2v2 and we decided werewolf deck was pretty weak, so we said at least 2 spells had to be casted in order for them not to flip. 2 spells from a player still made a flipped WW flip back though.

Yea we did a 2 headed giant match on wednesday with one team playing werewolves and other doing zombies.

The wolves couldn't stay flipped and got absolutely steamrolled, so your change sounds good.

Two of what?

Mirran Crusaders. Also, anyone got any Angelic Destinys up for trades? Guess I could post a list myself though I don't have much.

Nice article by Patrick Chapain. Geek girls have been getting some exposure lately eh? With this and the whole FGC drama. Sadly, I kept wondering if any of those players were hot. :|

I could sell the crusaders for $4 each, but it costs me like $1.50+ to ship so you wouldn't be getting them too much cheaper than a normal store =\ Up to you though, I think they're $6 on SCG and $5 TCGplayer low. The lowest I'd be able to go is 9.50 shipped for two NM ones.

Okay, going to FNM for the first time since mid december. Obviously the meta has shifted quite a bit since then. My decks are not up to date with DA cards whatsoever. Trying to decide which of the decks to take.

Red Deck Wins -

Mono-Black Infect -

Leaning towards RDW since there seem to be a few flyers that are around which hurts MBI a fair bit. That and with token decks being a big thing (No clue if they'll be present at my local meta), the various burn spells in RDW should help. Just want to see if anyone else has a comment.

Alright trying another draft:

draftzfj8b.jpg

Kind of went for a black red agro deck kind of thingy. Didn't really get any good bombs so I'm going to have to keep the pressure on early. At least I got some decent removal.

Torch Fiend or Bloodcrazed Neonate > Curse of the Pierced Heat
2nd Pitchburn Devils > Stromkirk Patrol
Furor of the Bitten > 2nd Typhoid Rats in this deck
Kessig Wolf and Russet Wolves are both playable over some of the average 3 and 4 drops like Tormented Pariah, Heckling Fiends, Chosen of Markov (you don't have that many vampires and don't want to be durdling around with tapping a 2/2 and another vampire on turn 3/4 in this deck).

Went 1-2, won 1 pack. Pretty lame deck overall.

Surprise star of the deck was the One-Eyed Scarecrows, they do a wonderful job of shutting down spirit decks.

Well since I am a glutton for punishment I'm trying another draft today.

As always I welcome the suggestions/critique, as my draft deck building skills are still pretty meh.

EDIT: R1 went 2-0. Deck seems pretty awesome so far. Delvers are badass and lingering souls + captain is just savage beats. I also changed the above slightly to just one swamp. I only need it for the lingering flashback and I figure 1 + evolving should be fine.
EDIT: R2 went 1-2 against a monogreen agro deck. Double strangleroot geist is so rough to get around, then some fatties like Gravetiller worm and Kindercatch. 3rd game I just couldn't flip my delvers, kept drawing land, had all 4 out too. The round I did win I went turn 1 delver, turn 2 flip and then spectral flight, so I had a 5/4 flier on turn 2. Brutality.
EDIT: R3 went 2-0. Savage beatdown with delvers and lingering souls again. Was against a blue/black zombie deck that had no answer to the airpower. Sideboarding ghost quarter proved a good decision as this guy had a vault of the archangel which is just a disgusting card to play against.
EDIT: So 3rd place in the swiss, definitely the best I've done. I'm really happy with how that deck turned out. If I didn't have such rotten luck with flipping my delvers on that one round I might have taken the whole thing.

Hooray! Just went 3-0 in my first 8-4 queue in a while with a grixis aggro deck. Pretty balanced between the three colors; I'm shocked it did so well.... no fixing either.

EDIT: Okay, three drafts in a day >.> went 2-0 split on the second, third I just started and managed to build an insane burning vengeance deck with 3 burnings and a past in flames.... Let's see how this goes x3

5 Island
9 Mountain
3 Swamp

1 Blazing Torch
1 Stromkirk Noble
1 Delver of Secrets

1 Desperate Ravings
1 Nightbird's Clutches
1 Invisible Stalker
1 Think Twice

1 Warden of the Wall
3 Burning Vengeance
1 Fires of Undeath
1 Rolling Temblor
1 Stromkirk Captain
1 Erdwal Ripper

1 Falkenrath Noble
1 Sever the Bloodline
1 Past in Flames
1 Wrack with Madness
1 Mystic Retrieval

1 Pitchburn Devils

1 Flayer of the Hatebound
1 Markov Warlord

9 creature limited decks like a boss >:3

It isn't too much cheaper, but I'll think about it and let you know. Still waiting on my other cards from WW. @_@

Here's a stupid take on the B/U zombie deck I had going before seeing the tourny results this weekend:

23 Creatures
3xGravecrawlers
4xDiregraf Ghouls
1xWalking Corpse
3xDiregraf Captains
4xPhyrexian Crusaders
1xGeralf's Messanger
1xMikaeus, the Unhallowed
1xGrimgrin
1xPhantasmal Image
1xPhyrexian Metaphorh

14 Instants/Sorceries
3xTragic Slip
2xGeth's Verdict
1xTribute to Hunger
2xAltar's Reap
2xGhoulchanter's Call
2xDismembers
1xVapor Snag

1 Artifact
1xNihil Spellbomb

PW
1xLilliana

Lands
4xDrown Catacombs
2xDarkshore Slicks
14xSwamp
3xIslands

Keep in mind this is with what cards I have available. I would replace these if I had the cards or I'm still thinking about.

-1 Walking Corpse, +1 Gravecrawler
-2 Dismembers, +2 Distress (to remove possible global wipeouts and I have Tragic Slip already I suppose)
-1 Altar's Reap, -1 Ghoulchanter's Call, +2 SoWP (even though Phyrexian Crusader already have those color protection, it still would be useful for the other creatures)
-2 Islands, +2 Darkshore Slicks
-1 Vapor Snag, +1 Mana Leak/Negate

Like I said, stupid deck that mixes poison and regular dmg, but the Crusaders have been working surprisingly well in play test, preventing a lot of dmg. With a captain out, Crusaders gets pretty nasty. I also have the option to copy a Crusader or a captain usually. Ghoulchanter's Call has been working pretty good for me so far. With so many creatures, I am able to keep pumping out creatures pretty consistently.

Wow, it has been absolutely forever since I've posted here. I dropped out of the Magic scene for a while there. The local scene here is getting some representation, so I got lured back in.

Here's the start of a video series covering the scene in Morgantown, WV. The commentary is more of a laid back, casual geared type of thing, but hopefully someone out there enjoys it. If nothing else, it would be nice to have the support of fellow Gaffers. If there is anything you like/hate about the video, feel free to PM me :)

Uuuuugh. I went 2-0 with the burning vengeance deck first round (complete slaughter despite opponent running sideboarded enchantment removal), then got my ass whooped by manascrew =\ 1-2.

I might force vengeance in the 64-man tonight. We'll see ^.^

EDIT: Abandoned my 64-man slot due to sleep concerns. Oh well.

When Geralf's Messanger comes into the battlefield, it says target opponent loses 2 life. Does a planeswalker's loyalty counter also counts as life? Pretty much, can I target PWs for 2 life? I guess Sorin's Thirst follows the same question.

In my deck mentioned earlier, I'm removing Grimgrin and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. Grimgrin only combos well if you have Gravecrawlers or are pumping out tokens in play. I'm not pumping out tokens and I can't always draw my Gravecrawlers so he's out. Mikaeus is just too expensive to cast out. Could probably work in a Heartless Summoning deck though. Since I need bombs and got some infect going, I'm thinking of replacing them with 2xSkittles, the Blight Dragon. Wish it was a zombie but we'll see how it plays. Another possibility is Skinrenders though they aren't exactly bomb cards.

I play only the hardcopy version. I organize my cards by decks. For the loose cards, I organize them by staples (by color) and the non-staples by expansion (by color). Even then, with so many shoeboxes around...sometimes it's just real hard to find that one single card!!

p/s I just realised that Obby's (Phyrexian Obliterator) doubled up in the month of February!! Is there some standard deck that plays Obby and charted high on some recent tourneys? *hugs my playset of Obby*)

Just getting into Magic Online. What is the best way to pop my draft tournament cherry? So far I have only been playing single standard matches. Want to make sure I am prepared, some of the tournament terms are confusing!

There were a bunch of top zombie decks at least running two of Obbys and more in sideboard. Such a bomb card. I should be running them, but I don't feel like shelling out for them right now.

But going back to my question, so basically Geralf's Messanger's ability won't be able to target PW's.

You'll probably want to do swiss to start with. The potential prize pool is smaller but you get to play multiple matches even if you lose which is best for practice.

Say I'm controlling Lilliana. I'm about to use her -6 ultimate. I have some curses onto me from my opponent. Are they now my permanents?

a) If I select myself, and the curses are now permanents I own, can I in essence put all those curses in a pile and sac them?
b) If the curses still belongs to the opponents even if it's attached to me, I separate the pile, they don't select the pile with the curses, does that mean the curses reattaches itself to me?

The curses are your opponent's permanents.
You can put all of their land in one pile and the curses in another and you are pretty much guaranteed to see the curses go away.

What the game is now, however, is close to the promise of what you think it is when you first start. Craw Wurm might not be the best card like you though, but somthing relatively similar (Primeval Titan) is. The best cards are now often things players are drawn to naturally--Baneslayer Angel, Planeswalkers, etc.--not miserable grindy stuff like Winter Orb or Capsize or unappealing absurd stuff like Necropotence or Balance.

He's actually implying Titans were good for the game?
Cool, the first reply already ruined any interest I might have had of reading the rest the AMA. :)

Turn one victories are a propagated myth in Legacy and Vintage.

As someone who is playing T.E.S. and at one time played Belcher I can assure you that turn one kills do happen. Never consistently but they do happen. Hell for a very short time (banned after one tournament) there was a turn zero kill.

The sentiment isn't wrong (I feel alright about Baneslayer) but fuck the titans. Seriously. If they're back in 2013 I'll scream

I love my Grave and Primeval Titan deck like crazy, but even I know those things were terrible for the game.

They're so ridiculous that you almost have to run them at the 6 spot in legacy decks now. I mean, they just do so much.

How does that even work?

Speaking of really quick kills, one of my friends bought a set of Tinkers. So that's going to be super fun. *shifty eyes* Thankfully he at least doesn't have a Blightsteel Colossus as far as I know.

Geebus.

On a side note, I just watched somebody so some shit with Seething Song and a lotus petal to win a game in 2 turns.

Holy shit.

Granted it used to be like $40 back when besieged was coming out. It used to be essentially double until it was talked of being reprinted so it dropped to like $30 and now after reprinting dropped to around $20. Still isn't cheap and by far the most expensive titan IIRC. I love playing green too which makes it harder. :(

They're amazing cards, for sure. I think Grave Titan has won me more games. Most people just scoop when one of those hits the board. It's a really, really obnoxious card.

For 6 mana.

Damn. All you want is a Vita? Nothing else? For those lands?

I'm trying to get more people to play eternal formats, and you're trying to scare them off? Please go sit in a corner and play your solitaire decks by yourself.
