Yeah, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Modern still heavily Combo dominated? I know it was at induction
I haven't been following Modern closely, but last I looked, Zoo and Tron were the DTB.

Wow, standard is only two blocks and core sets these days? They're really trying to squeeze that money out of their playerbase aren't they?
Pretty sure it's always been that way.
But man I really, really hated that time period where Coldsnap, Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, Future Sight, 10th Edition, Lorwyn, Morningtide, Shadowmoor, Eventide composed of the legal sets in Standard.
Dude that shit sounds brutal

Yeah, it was back when set sizes were also about 130% larger, so it was a really insane card pool.
Larger card pool for each set/block would be nice. I'm pretty sure I read that MaRo said they were doing away with "small sets" in blocks from now on, though, and just doing 3 large sets in one block rather than 2 large and 1 small. That, I like.
But man, I really wish I didn't quit during original Mirrodin. Would have loved to have played original Ravnica and Lorwyn during their time.
I really really wish they would do limited print runs of older sets for the express purpose of Limited. Missing out on those sets because I didn't play Limited at the time is a huge regret of mine.

Oldric is good with a bunch of creatures and/or tokens. Pretty much control the battle phase once he attacks. Wish Raise Alarm was reprinted. 2 tokens at instant speed? Yes please.
Crusader of Oldric is the cheapest cmc for a creature that scales with creatures you control?
They need more vampires than just Vampire Nighthawk and Nocturnus.
Gonna have to pick up a playset of Odric eventually.
Silverblade Paladin linked to Champion of the Parish, Mirran Crusader, and Odric all attacking at once. Declare none of your opponent's creatures blocking this turn.
Rinse, repeat.
Silverblade Paladin linked to Angelic Overseer is also amazing.
Not to mention how much it would help formats like Legacy and Modern thrive. Fuck collectors and their multi hundred dollar cards, that shit is so stupid.
I hated that time because Faeries was a deck and crushing everything. Loved the deck itself but hated that it was so much better than everything. Really boring standard format.
Modern will eventually replace Legacy. Legacy's time is limited due to the game's growth as there simply aren't enough cards to support the current playerbase. It's like a club good- to buy in, you have to buy someone else out.The reserve list keeps a lot of Legacy staples from being reprinted. It would take a fundamental shift in policy before Wizards will go back on that. I suspect Modern was their attempt at an eternal format where they could freely reprint singles (i.e. the heavily rumored Shocklands to appear RtR).
Then again, who knows? I remember when Wizards' policy was that Portal and it's off-shoots would never be tournament legal, but that has since changed.
I was actually considering it for the all out Goblin deck I'm putting together with Krenko, heh. Seems fun.
I didn't think of that. It seems like if you can untap with Krenko with any number of gobbos on the table with this in hand, you've won the game. He fits nicely behind Burn on the mana curve, at least.

I feel as if I gained a level by putting together my first stab at RDW, using Vigilante Justice and Shrine of Burning Rage.
When Krenko comes out, I'm going to make a full on Goblin deck too. I think I like building decks more than playing them sometimes.
I'm the same way. I've always been that way with both Magic, and Pokemon. Any time a game requires some sort of building strategy, I tend to enjoy the strategic conceptualizing over the actual following through with the product.

I'm with you guys. Putting together decks is why I play. Well, that and compulsively opening little foil packages.
When it comes to actually playing the game, I always have more fun in limited than constructed.
Man, I don't even get that far. I spend more time enjoying reading articles about Magic then I do building decks or playing with them.
that's why i'm here. i don't even play anymore since i moved away from my playing buddies, around the time isd came out. but i still follow the new releases and reading about the cards.
i feel i should try some m13 draft events though
I love opening foil packagesssssssss!!!!!!!
But I would love playing with you guys than some random dudes, I think. We would encourage wacky ass decks and our own "metagame" of no rules except broken ass shit can do without.
Would be awesome.

The last few core sets have been them experimenting with how to design a good "intro product" and it looks like they've decided that they can afford (and even should) to put in some bizarre cards like Battle of Wits and Door to Nothingness that new players can encounter and go "what the fuck?"
The less terrible vanilla rares like Goliath Sphinx there are the better and moving back to the fun category is always welcome. Uninspired rares are no fun at all.

We should try to organize GAF Cockatrice Nights or something, once a week. Maybe post challenges for optional deck styles or card inclusions just for fun.
A GAF mtg meta would be awesome.
Do you have to kill a Pikachu to get one?Jesus Raichu.
Jesus Raichu.

They're intentionally segregated (and overpriced online) in order to protect the paper game.Oh boo....
You know I wish there was more interaction between MODO and Paper Magic. Sorta like in how in the WoW TCG you could get scratch off codes for WoW.
Imagine what you could do with Paper Magic and Modo
