Souldbond is one of those fantastic mechanics that hits the sweet spot of linearity and modularity. There are so many obvious choices and also so many incredibly creative choices.
Belcher is for people who aren't talented enough to play elves.

I just looked up that deck and it looks moronic. Do you just mull until you get a belcher then?
Yeah, it's fun, but it's a deck people play when they dont want to think. You draw your opening 7, go 'do I win?', then go to game 2. Bit more interesting after boarding, but even then.
Or an empty the warrens.
It's no fun to play and no fun to play against. Beyond everything, magic should be fun. I have no patience for decks that take that away.
It's only fun for about 5 seconds while you go "haha I can potentially win on turn one weeee" and then it wears out very quickly when you realize you're either playing for only one/two turns or you are sitting on your hand until your opponent murders you.
Are there any good decklists for EDH? I want a decent deck that I don't have to spend a lot of money on.
The forums for mtgsalvation and the mothership both have Commander sections with a staggering amount of decklists. Other than that, it depends on how competitive you want to be, and whether or not you're playing multiplayer or 1v1.
If you can find any of the official Commander decks at a walmart or target, that may be a good starting point. You get a lot of good stuff (Sol Ring, Lightning Greaves, Command Tower, etc) and the decks are solid out of the box.
Also, with Bonfire being so prevalent, why don't more people Fiend Hunter their own creatures away?
I think it is more worth it to have your really good creature that they need an answer for out and smashing every turn until they draw the Bonfire instead of putting it under a Fiend Hunter just in case they draw it.
On the wizards site is there a deck listing for the 2 new 2013 event decks? I want to get one today but would like to see the lists before hand. I cannot seem to find the page on my phone if someone can link it that would be very internet nice of you.![]()
I don't think the Event Decks are out yet. Just the 5 Intro Decks.
They're getting incredibly hard to find, so if you do see one, I suggest you jump on it ASAP.
I think I've decided on playing Naya Pod at the SSG Open in Buffalo at the end of the month (I can not deny the Thragtusk), but I need to figure out how to put my own twist on it. I think I have an idea... I'll get back to you guys.

If only green got some exalted creatures. Would've made a green poison exalt deck with rancors.
Noble Hierarch + BOTH GEISTS IN THE SAME DECK would have been /wrists.If only green got some exalted creatures. Would've made a green poison exalt deck with rancors.

Ya, the people who want me to play always play multiplayer and as long as I don't have to spend too much I would be ok with it. It's too much of a novelty I don't play to actually invest heavily in it. And I haven't seen those commander decks in ages, they're been sold out for months by me.
Gawd, I never thought of that. I wanted a Heirarch reprint so I could get my hands on a playset for relatively cheap, but yeah, she would have messed Standard up something fierce.
How extensive is your collection? A lot of solid EDH cards can be built with a lot of junk rares from older sets, since the general flow of a game is a LOT slower than typical constructed games. One of the things we used to do at our LGS was build decks out of the 10-cent junk bin.
One of the downsides, however, is that a lot of the strong cards for EDH have risen in price as the format gained in popularity. The good news is, Wizards has released a lot more EDH-friendly cards in recent sets, and those have been typically cheap and easy to get.
Here is a good place to start for general strategy.
And here is an on going discussion of the strongest cards, if you want to get semi-competitive, or at least get an idea of what type of cards float to the top in EDH.
The Sneak Peek for Magic Online is available now.
Kind of tired of WOTC's boner for Bolas.
I will cast Gilded Lotus into Nicol Bolas or Griselbrand in a Grixis control deck and there is nothing you can do to stop me.
They did.There are better characters.
Bring back Karn or something.

As called out by Pat Chapin - the deck isn't "Mono-Blue Wizards" at all. It's just U/W Delver with the Angels in the board. This Talrand deck from the last SCG is nuts:
http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=47760
18 lands. 10 free spells. Drakes out the ass.
Griselbrand ends the game if you can draw 7 off him, any deck that can't win with that much card advantage is just bad. It's so not fun to play against though. Grisel isn't too bad to kill but Bolas just ends the game.
So I was browsing around the Wizards site for info on Magic Online, and I'm wondering... is it worth it? I like playing Duels of the Planeswalkers online, would I like MGO too? It looks like costs would add up fast if you need to buy digital boosters and pay for events...
The gameplay is nearly identical, except you have more control and all of the phases are available to you, there are less bugs, and you can fully construct your own decks.
You do need to spend money, although depending on how prudent you are and what kind of decks you want to play, you may not need to spend *that* much.
It is undeniably more expensive than DotP though. A good deck that can make money (read: tickets) is going to probably cost you in the ballpark of ~$150-$250. It's basically a digital version of the real game, costs of packs and cards included, albeit in a much more convenient form.

You didn't have the Beta installed, did you?Trying to install the new Magic Online preview but it refuses to work with me
WotC is a cruel god.
You didn't have the Beta installed, did you?
No, just regular Magic Online.
What happens is, I launch it like normal, then when it pops up, the User Agreement and Software License screen appears, but I can't interact with it. After about a second an error pops up that says: We apologize for the inconvenience, but Magic Online has encountered a problem. blahblahblah
I'm still looking on the official forums, but don't see anything related
edit: done just about everything humanly possible for reporting it. hope it gets solved!
All I've been doing past few weeks in my spare time is getting back into Magic, which I do about at least once every year it seems. Mostly been playing on MWS with randoms and friends, but I took the plunge into MTGO for the first time ever and did two drafts, winning a couple of booster packs in the process.
MTGO seriously needs a professional team to work on it. How can the cards be uglier than the images I use on MWS? And the font and general interface is disgustingly bad. It looks like Heroes of Newerth.
If anyone wants to play Legacy or Modern on MWS my email is unmeel at gmail dot com. Hit me up on gchat.
Its funny you complain about the images and interface in MTGO since they literally just launched a beta of an interface overhaul
