Is it really awkward that these sweet (presumably staple) removal spells are taking up rare slots? Sure, they're good, but it's hard to believe they'd warp limited enough to justify being better than uncommon. Guess just because rare isn't what it used to be?

A Blue-Red spell that says "Counter target instant or sorcery spell and put a copy of it onto the stack under your control. You may choose new targets for the copy."

I hope there's some counter that has a cool additional effect which makes it worth targeting these uncounterable spells anyway. For some reason, the interaction between Absorb and Urza's Rage back in Invasion was really memorable to me. I'd hoped to get the chance to Mana Leak a creature cast with Cavern of Souls just to make my Runechanter's Pike lethal at some point, but alas. It never happened =(

Not really. This set has a billion good cards in it that will help reduce their overall price level once supply shortages dissipate.

Fair. I guess I just don't see why that decision would be made. Dreadbore is just a bad Terminate in limited. We've all opened bad rares in our time, but I would rather that spot be something that is at least unique. Both of these cards are comparable in purpose and power level to Oblivion Ring.

I was building a bg zombie deck with rancor before RTR spoilers and goddamn are there some amazing additions.
 
Hot damn. Control decks have so many good tools coming up in this set; I have no idea where I'm even going to start.

When I saw Dreadbore, Slaughter Games, and Mizzum Mortars, I thought for sure I was staying Grixis. Now I could just as easily go BUG, Junk, UW, etc. It's going to take a while to figure out what the best control strategy is going to be.
 
I think you want Thragtusk as he does so much work, but I'm not sure what else. There are a lot of options to start with definitely.

The can't counter clauses are weird aa thet aren't really relevant right now. With cards to come I wonder if UR Delver is going to get mad tools as well as Izzet Charm and they wanted to make it worse, or they are going to print a new counter spell.
 
Ok. Played one Commander game with the beta MTGO client, and wow is it a clusterfuck. I don't know if it is optimized for a duel, but having to horizontally scroll across a field of unscalable cards in a multiplayer game is a disaster. There's no way to assess the game state a glance. I hope they don't kill the old client for a while, because the new one still has a ways to go.

Ugh, that was another thing I complained about during the preview event. Maybe I didn't scream loud enough. Is there a zone for your commander and a way to tell when it's active?
 
I just bought the Magic 2013 XBLA game, and having never had any experience with Magic before, I think I'm hooked.

Enjoy! And if you run into a roadblock, play the goblin deck. It's easy mode.

Yeah, just fired it up. It's a hot mess right now. For instance, if you have cards in a deck, it won't show up in your collection some of the time as you owning the card. I own 4 rancors, but they're in several decks that were imported from the old client. Nothing I could do would make them show up in my collection. Yet, there they are, playable and everything.

...and there is no real bug reporting feature. The super unhelpful ORCs are just pointing people toward the "this player was mean to me" reporting page that gets you a blanket response.
 
I am a bit concerned about the future of the client. Some other bits that are odd is the card preview isn't dockable. So on large screens, you either have a giant floating card hiding everything, or nothing. And the zoom levels are broken. You also can't multitask any longer, like watching a game and chatting at the same time. You can't trade with buddies. You have to search them and then trade.

It is prettier.

Wow that's pretty cool. I had the original DotP for the 360 and then I won 2012 for PC (I actually got two codes for it, because of a screw up with the emails [their fault, not mine], and I gave the second code away here on GAF), but I just don't have the money for the latest edition. Sucks.
 
Draw might lack interactivity, I'd say burn or bounce, maybe something like Threaten. Bounce seems boring at first though, so maybe burn.

Yeah, we are pretty early in the spoilers, but so far all we've seen from Izzet is burn. They did have stuff like Invoke the Firemind before, but as far as I can tell, Izzet may be going in a different direction.

That card seems to versatile for the cycle, essentially Shock+Concentrate combined on an Instant. Given Lightning Helix I suppose something like the following is possible:

Of course it's possible they'll simply modify Electrolyze.

I was trying to find the balanced ground between combining Ancestral Recall and Lightning Bolt, but it's more difficult than you'd imagine.
 
Right, but flavorwise Graft really fit Simic well.

It did fit the cytoplasts that Simic utilized. However, all of the cytoplast is (presumably) gone for good, along with Kraj, may he rest in peace.

It will be interesting to see how the Simic are portrayed now after such huge changes.
