Sorry for the (extremely) late reply. Between being busy, Qwest DSL being on the fritz, and the forums going down, I haven't really had a chance to post until now. :\

Actually, CoP introduced the last of the ideas that they had planned from the start. Zilart introduced most of them, but CoP really finished them off. Anything they add now will be totally new and not conceived at the start of the project, guaranteed.
Well, I kind of meant that maybe they had ideas that were left on the cutting room floor way back when... but when I think about it, it's just not very likely that they'd add those back into the game. If they do add more to it, you're probably right, it would be totally new ideas.

Massive level capped event? Not quite sure what you mean. Is there anything existing you can compare it to?
I basically meant something like Promyvion, though maybe on a larger scale.

Sadly not, but I would have thought the "Welcome back" campaign speaks volumes in that area.
That's pretty much just a fix for the thousands of complaints they've received (re: invalidated registration codes), wrapped up in a nice marketing ploy.

Just being picky, but those two points contradict each other. Merit Points are the exact opposite of multi-job raising. Once you get into MeriPo, raising other jobs isn't such a big deal any more. Thus the middle levels (55-70) are very hard going because of the lack of players.
Merit Points are simply a method to play your maxed job and still make progress. Without this system in place, these jobs would quickly grow stagnant. So yes, more options in this area would be welcome.
Raising other jobs is just another option. Sure, you may have that Level 75 job that you can play for Merit Points, but the option is there to start a Level 1 job, and go through the game experiencing things from a different role... And these options hardly contradict eachother. If anything, I think they compliment eachother, as you're able to switch at any time, experiencing whatever you want. One day you could play for Merit Points, another you could take a low level job through Valkurm.
It's all about options, and that's one of the areas FFXI excels.

I quit because there were not enough people to level with, so the game became a pain (I quit at level 63 late last year).
Ok, I hear a lot of horror stories about 60+ leveling, and I always wonder: why not just play another job? Sure, it doesn't solve the problem, but it seems like a much better alternative to me than dropping the game completely.
