A man has become the first person in South Australia to be charged for possessing a childlike sex doll under new laws which came into force last year.

The 30-year-old allegedly purchased the doll from China in December 2018 and was charged late on Tuesday by the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team.
The squad started looking at his activities in November following a tip-off from NSW Police and the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre with help from PayPal Australia

Let these weirdos do this. Its much better than the 'real' alternative. And if its a release of some kind then let them do it to a doll and not a real kid. I mean its f*cking gross but pretty harmless.

Great now he can prey on real kids when he gets out of jail in 3 months. I have heard of actual serial child rapists get out in less than 6 years and re-offend. Australia's lax revolving door prisons don't match the ban.

Stupid. Logic dictates that sexual deviants (metrosexuals, homosexuals, pedosexuals, furrysexuals, redditors, fans of anime, star wars fans etc) are either humanely neutered or controlled with harmless consumer goods. The former is obviously too extreme in most cases and uncivilized and banning the latter is dumb as it redirects their urges towards real people so you're left with plain old stupid all around. And no I'm not paying for his $10,000 annual temp chemical castration kit with my taxes.

Yeah, this is kinda odd thing. If someone stabs a doll or beheads a doll, whether it looks a child or not, they shouldn't go in jail for murdering someone.

In this case I think he didn't really go to jail for having sex with the doll, but just owning it. On one hand I wouldn't think having sex with a doll or "killing" a doll shouldn't be criminal, but on the other hand I kinda think that it's ok that no-one should be able to purchase a child doll that has been made for the purpose of sex, and I kinda understand why purchasing that kind of a doll should be outlawed. But then again if I don't think that treating a doll the same way as if one would murder a person shouldn't be treated as illegal, I shouldn't think having sex with a doll shouldn't be illegal either, so why would I think owning that doll should be illegal either. But then again I still think they perhaps should be illegal.

On one hand, it is an inanimate object, and technically no one was hurt.

On the other, fucking WTF gross.

Hypothetical situation:

If someone was a diagnosed pedophile, and you could "prescribe" them a doll like this to ensure they don't act on real people. Would it be worth it? (Say in this scenario it's a 100% prevention rate)

I still don't know, it's weird and sick as fuck. But what do you do? You can't charge them with the actual crime since the crime didn't happen. I doubt you could even put them on a list. Ugh.

Australia is quite strict. They ban a lot of things like any mention of drugs in a game. I wouldn't put it past them to do something like this.

It's not an either/or scenario. Ideally you don't give them this AND they don't act out. But is encouraging (and accepting) their proclivities on an inanimate object worthwhile? It just feels creepy, but would be a net benefit I guess, if they even stopped 1 abuse.
